similar to mine except that I have Yamaha home theater speakers running off of a Kenwood receiver.

XLR supposedly means "Extra Long Run" (according to one online acronym dictionary). It's a sturdy and reliable connector for balanced audio signals. Neutrik makes the best. 😀
