change his litter.

they won't go in a litter box they don't want to be in (ie it has poop and urine balls in it), next best thing is your comforter.

The thing that's kind of nasty is that he has taken to humping my daughter's stuffed animals and pillows. WTF? At least he ALWAYS either goes outside or uses the litterbox. He's never had an accident indoors.

Then you obviously neutered him too late if he humps things.. My cousin's dogs do that all the time, although it's actually the b!tch that does it and not the male :Q My cat has never done it.

Nope, he was neutered VERY young, like a couple months old. He just started getting frisky with the stuffed animals in the last couple years. He never did it before that.

Is he "fixed"? Lots of male cats "mark their territory" similar to a dog if they're not fixed.

If your cat is spraying, it will have an odor more foul than normal urine. That could be the case.. if your cat is in heat...

cats usually ALWAYS go in the litter. unless the litter is dirty, or if they are ill. it is not common for cats to pee anywhere else for spite. take the cat to the vet.
Unneutered male or ill, the strongest possiblities.

But cats HAVE sometimes been known to pee for spite.

Spite would be my guess.
If something in their world changes and it pisses them off, they'll do it.
I get rid of the offender or they get to live outside.
It works great.

A friend of mine had a cat that would do this everytime she was gone longer than 12 hours from home. It was definitely in spite.

I'm reminded of my doctor's words about cats, "I'll take care of your cat.... with a shovel."

No, I don't think it's male-specific. Females have problems too, though they probably wouldn't hump anything or spray. :p

I once had to replace a section of plywood in front of a customer's bathroom door. It was so soaked with cat piss they couldn't get the smell out. Damn, I can't believe what people go through to own animals.

HaHaHa, yea right.

Cats piss all about the house, while cat lovers/owners overlook it, all the while pointing to the sporadicly used litter box as proof of the the contrary.

Have cat indoors = have indoors smell of cat piss.

You have no idea what you are talking about. I have had many indoor cats. If they are fixed then they WILL NOT spray.

Also..if you do not get them fixed SOON ENOUGH they will still spray even after being fixed. So if it isn't fixed before the first 6 months or so...sometimes it may be too late.

If he has peed there once and can still smell it, he may think that it's okay to pee there again.

This is the same reason that when litter training a cat if they do have an accident and take a crap on carpet or something it's best to pick it up with a paper towel and then put it in the litter box and then put the cat in with it.

Sounds like he wasn't fixed early enough.

1 question... what does a cat actually do in this day and age? It damn sure dont kill mice, unless you live in the city or the country. that leaves 1 thing. piss all over the place... skin it now, while you can make something useful out of it.

My cat chases birds, has killed a mouse that somehow got in here. He will even go after annoying flys and kill them.

I have two cats and they both eat any bugs that make it in my apt. I don't have a bug infested apt or anything, but any of the ones that make it in (usually moths or something) are eaten up. You should take your cat to the vet. My cats always go in the litter box

Keep the litter box uber clean for a couple of days and see if his behavior changeas.
If it's a male and you feed primarily dry cat food, have him checked for urinary tract infection. This sort of peeing is usually done because they can't hold it like they used to.

< over 45 so I know what that really means, in human terms.
