damn dude!

sorry about your friend and his car...

DO THIS NOW!!!!

Tell your friend to go see a good doctor, get examinations, and never settle for anything...

Me and my parents got rear ended a couple years back... all of us were fine for a couple months but the pain just came late! Seriously, in most accidents, initial sufferings are nothing compared to the ones that you'll have later on....

TELL YOU FRIEND TO GET A GOOD LAWYER / DOCTOR!

I don't know what the buyback value is....but your buddy might could buy that back from ins, part it out and make some $$$ off of it. Usually the buyback values from ins. companies are VERY cheap (relative to the value of the car, anyway) not to mention WRX parts are NOT cheap, nor are they common (i.e. good luck finding a Rex in a yard). He could find a WRX forum and make some cash selling the parts on there, or even ebay them. That's a gold mine.

I wish I could have bought my first 240sx (RIP). Alot of good stuff in it, like non yellow headlight lenses, 16" wheels. Spare parts I say.

That car is not totaled I can almost guarantee that it is not a total loss... whats the value on that about 15k at least?? that means the repairs would need to total 75% of 15k to be a total... I've seen worse get repaired!

Yeah, insurance companies are quite stubborn these days... I had a coworker have his car hit by a garbage truck while it was parked in front of his house. Rear was smashed just as bad for his Corolla... worth $10k and they didn't total it.

I guess it depends on how anal the insurance companies in CT are.

What does being anal have to do with running a biz?? If you consider a company saving 5+ grand on a claim being anal... do expect the ins co. to just hand him a set of keys to a new WRX...

Wow, hopefully your buddy will make some money off this and hopefully insurance will cover all the damage. I wouldn't want to see his insurance rate after this though (is he under 25?), even though it most likely wasn't his fault :(

dayum...sorry to see the car, but at least he's "okay"...he's gonna have a ball sue-ing the truck driver. And yeah, i doubt that damage will cost 75% of the worth of the car, unless everything in the suspension got bent to hell too.

But here's to hoping, and so he can get an STi.

There's no point in ruining someone's life over a car. Get him or his insurance to pay for the car/medical/time off work. Any more is just being an ass.

I am willing to bet the F350 was riding his tail figuring he can see over the car.

So many of these rearends here, always a little sportscar type with a SUV or pickup halfway in it's trunk.

If I am in the left lane, I let them pass. If I am in the right, brake check time...first time just a light tap nothing major...I let them know pass me or back off...if the guy wants to 'be a man' and ride me, so far I am batting 3 trucks going off roading and all the rest giving up the game. Also one time a cop came up an got the one prick, I am not sure what happened but the cop flew up, got behind me, hit his lights and braked hard stopping Joe Dirt in his 12" lifted POS.....I stopped too (figuring I was being a little reckless trying to get him off my tail) and he told me to go over his PA.

Hey everyone. I'm the one that was involved in the accident. I'd like to thank everyone for their concerns and comments. From the look of it I'll be ok. I do have some bumps and bruises, neck and back pain, but I guess I should be happy that is all.

So I'm like 1/2 a mile away from home (after driving 15 miles from work). I'm at a dead stop waiting to take a left turn, when all of a sudden I see these headlights in my rearview mirror coming fast. There was no time for me to react and then I get hit. My car gets pushed completely across the other lane. The guy just came out and saying it was his fault (duh!!) and asked if I was alright.

I think its totalled but I dont know. I hope it is because I dont want a car full of bondo that isnt going to be worth much when I try to sell it.

That just sucks :(

Hopefully, they total it. Whether they do or don't, I suggest pulling all your mods off right away because the insurance company will be unlikely to compensate you for those.

At least you came through all right :)

It doesn't look like the truck was going anywhere near 40mph at the instant of collision.

Luckily you didn't get pushed into oncoming traffic. That would have really sucked.

Sorry about the loss.

it shouldn't but it shows up on your record... so from what i'm told here... if you happen to switch insurance companies... you better let them know it wasn't your fault.

insurance companies do ask now about not-at-fault accidents. I believe they can deny taking you as a new customer based on them.

that car is likely total - the cost of ficing the q/p (non replacable part) is more that the value of the car. Youd need to cut most of the right side off and weld entirely new piece in. If you know how to do body work, you can get a good deal buying the car back from the insurance company (salvage title...maybe 5 grand) and use it for rallying and such :)

1. Did you call the cops? Should have called the cops and gotten a police report.
2. Did he have insurance? Find that out ASAP.
3. Hopefully you have insurance, you can either file a claim with your insurance or his. They'll pay the medical bills for you.
4. If he has insurance, or you have insurance and it covers you, then go see your DOCTOR ASAP! Also, go see a Chiropractor ASAP. You will need to do both to fully recover.
5. If you wait too long to do so, your medical claims may be viewed by the insurance company as phony.
6. Chiropractor is important, because your doctor will only give you medication which masks the pain and you won't feel the tissue damage. A chiropractor will actually help you determine the full extent of your injuries for your lawsuit.
7. Get a LAWYER, the adjusters will tear you apart if you don't have a LAWYER.

An accident that is not your fault should not result in you losing any money, but if you don't take the proper steps, you can end up losing more money than you know. Without good representation, you can end up wasting lots of time or not getting the settlement you deserve for your pain and suffering. GOOD LUCK!
