Hey everyone. I'm the one that was involved in the accident. I'd like to thank everyone for their concerns and comments. From the look of it I'll be ok. I do have some bumps and bruises, neck and back pain, but I guess I should be happy that is all.
So I'm like 1/2 a mile away from home (after driving 15 miles from work). I'm at a dead stop waiting to take a left turn, when all of a sudden I see these headlights in my rearview mirror coming fast. There was no time for me to react and then I get hit. My car gets pushed completely across the other lane. The guy just came out and saying it was his fault (duh!!) and asked if I was alright.
I think its totalled but I dont know. I hope it is because I dont want a car full of bondo that isnt going to be worth much when I try to sell it.
1. Did you call the cops? Should have called the cops and gotten a police report.
2. Did he have insurance? Find that out ASAP.
3. Hopefully you have insurance, you can either file a claim with your insurance or his. They'll pay the medical bills for you.
4. If he has insurance, or you have insurance and it covers you, then go see your DOCTOR ASAP! Also, go see a Chiropractor ASAP. You will need to do both to fully recover.
5. If you wait too long to do so, your medical claims may be viewed by the insurance company as phony.
6. Chiropractor is important, because your doctor will only give you medication which masks the pain and you won't feel the tissue damage. A chiropractor will actually help you determine the full extent of your injuries for your lawsuit.
7. Get a LAWYER, the adjusters will tear you apart if you don't have a LAWYER.
An accident that is not your fault should not result in you losing any money, but if you don't take the proper steps, you can end up losing more money than you know. Without good representation, you can end up wasting lots of time or not getting the settlement you deserve for your pain and suffering. GOOD LUCK!
