Why do people buy high end gaming rigs only to have them become obsolete within a years time? Atleast shoes like these appreciate because of their limited availability. I don't buy expensive shoes to wear, I buy them to collect.

and the shoes are Nike Dunk Alohas

but staying on topic, my bro is being a total d-bag over these, wow.

These?

Those are basketball shoes? 😕

They look more like skateboarding shoes to me.

When Nike makes a $250 shoe, the target market is young, poor, urban minorities. They aren't interesting in skateboarding, thus you have a skate shoe sold as a basketball shoe. I guess. 😕

it's funny that you bring that up. i wonder if we can get a pic of the "bro" being "fly." he's probably a complete loser to be so hopelessly in love with such a hideous looking, shallowly hyped up shoe. i'd give him 48 hours to come up with $250 or they go to someone else.

Yeah the dunk line in general are really questionable of being basketball shoes. My theory is that they were probably derived from the Jordan retro 1 low tops. Then again, there's Nike Dunk SB which is Nike Dunk Skate Boarding, which are basically dunks with a fatter tongue and i think a different sole grip, designed for skating. That's the main differentiation between Nike Dunks and SB Dunks.

Keird is correct, Dunks of all kinds these days are more popular to the biking/skater crowd instead of the basketball crowd.

I am thinking of going with tiamats advice and just telling him straight up that I really don't want to sell him the shoes, well because I don't. It's that weird feeling, I mean I am selling something to my own brother, it just feels wrong to me i dunno why and also even when i am not making a profit from them, I bought them for $220 2 years ago when I did and didn't even realize until now that I could be selling these to him for $250 since they go around $280 average now it still feels shady in some way.

l2 style, and op you did the right thing, dont let your bro take advantage of bro status or you will suffer the consequences.

OK, the shoes being $250 new I can live with. Not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat. But my question is, who buys used shoes for $220? Even if you took the utmost care of them, they're still used. You couldn't pay me enough to wear another man's athlete foot ridden shoes.

You know way too much about shoes...

those skates must have an insane amount of money. the skaters i know absolutely ruin a pair of shoes in no time. paying that much cash for a pair of shoes that youre going to fuck up is absured.

anyway, theyre ugly shoes and i think if someone skated in them and gave them "character" theyd look better. or at least less bad.

Why is that? Fashion is a big part of the society we live in, and as long as he's not spending beyond his means I fail to see the problem.
Though WHY it is remains a mystery, at least to some extent.

I guess there are evolutionary roots to it. Some birds, for example, will sometimes adorn themselves with fancy feathers to make themselves look sexier. I guess we've got something similar in our genetic makeup that makes us obsess over what is covering our bodies.
And I guess it's just another little status symbol - "Yeah that's right, I can waste lots of money on things that look pretty but have the same functionality is something that is 20% as expensive."
I guess they're the perfect accessory to go with $200 jeans.

hahaha....I thought me almost pulling the trigger and buying asic gel evolution sneakers was to much....but those shoes make them look like a bargain.

WTF? Why would anyone spend that kind of money on a pair of tennis shoes? 😕

I didn't even spend that much on my Sidi Air Vertigos...and that's a high quality motorcycle boot that you could do a track day in.

imo really dont do business with family. Its horrible if anything goes wrong. Family always think that they have huge leeway when it comes to money,

Probably because of the belief that more expensive gear will compensate for a lack of skill.

Same line of thinking:
"If I buy the same golfing equipment that Tiger Woods uses, I'll be able to play as well as he does!"
or
"If I buy the same lingerie that Alessandra Ambrosio models, I'll be as sexy.........."
sorry, Google Image Search distracted me.

Why do all Nikes look the same nowadays?

I bought a pair of 6.0's last year, and all the ones I see by 'em now are almost exactly the same, just a different color scheme.

Did Nike deliberately make so few of these shoes because they were trying to make them an expensive collector's item, or what?

I'm wondering what skill you'd be trying to enhance with the shoes the OP is talking about.

BTW-I didn't buy my motorcycle boots to enhance any skills or to look like Valentino Rossi. I bought them to protect my feet in the event of a get off. So far I haven't had to find out how effective they are at that but if it happens I really hope I have those boots wrapped around my feet at the time.😉

He's probably going to buy them from you at $220, then turn around and sell them for $250+. That's why it's taking him a week to pay you.

You had to pay first to get them from whoever sold them to you. He needs to pony up the cash to get them from you. Period. If he throws a hissy fit over that, fuck him.

Godawful hideous shoes, btw.

only time i spent lots of money on clothes was my rideing gear. when you might be sliding across pavement going 90+ you want damn good gear.

i ahd a set that i think saved my life..if at the least kept some skin on my bones.
