$250 is NOT expensive for good shoes...but is stupidly expensive for Nikes of any kind...and especially something as butt-ugly as those...

My work boots start at about $400/pair...and get progressively more expensive as you customize them (taller, steel toes, custom fit to your foot, etc.)

I wear Finn Comforts for my "dress shoes" and they're right at $300/pair.

Hell, my New Balance shoes cost about $125. (and they're 5x better quality than anything Nike ever made.)

Why is that? Fashion is a big part of the society we live in, and as long as he's not spending beyond his means I fail to see the problem.

No, fashion is a big part of the people who are shallow and brand snobs. Those shoes are nowhere worth 250, only an idiot would pay that much.

There's a lot more to clothes than just "brand snobbery" especially with shoes. Remember, your feet are supporting the weight of your whole body throughout your lifetime. When you've walked a mile in bespoke shoes, you'll feel like you walked through a soft leather floor for ten feet.

OK, the shoes being $250 new I can live with. Not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat. But my question is, who buys used shoes for $220? Even if you took the utmost care of them, they're still used. You couldn't pay me enough to wear another man's athlete foot ridden shoes.

who buys used shoes regardless of the price? it's 1 step below used underwear

Why do people buy high end gaming rigs only to have them become obsolete within a years time? Atleast shoes like these appreciate because of their limited availability. I don't buy expensive shoes to wear, I buy them to collect.

and the shoes are Nike Dunk Alohas

here's a link from a legit retailer.

but staying on topic, my bro is being a total d-bag over these, wow.

Did Nike deliberately make so few of these shoes because they were trying to make them an expensive collector's item, or what?

Nike indeed does, they do it to hype up the crowd in order to make the brand that much more noticeable. Then again they've been doing it since Jordans and their other trainers, so it's nothing new. My beef with releasing limited stock for SB Dunks is that they are actually good skateboarding shoes. So with limited stock, means you'll rarely get a pair for their release price which is like $60 and if you do you wouldn't want to skate in them anyways as they would most likely be the only pair you'd be able to get them, for that price.

why sell, why not just give it to him? he's your bro after all

I was contemplating that, then I thought of the situation overall. He's shown interest in them many times and offered to buy them, then changed his mind, same thing again and now we're at this point... so hell no am I giving these shoes to him for free.

Hmm, according to that site I have a pair of Jordan's that are worth about $385 bucks. Not too bad.

And $250 for a pair of Dunk low? I just bought a couple pairs for $20 each from the Nike Outlet a few weeks ago.

totally agree with you there. I own boots i have paid ~200 for, but they were for a purpose and very comfortable. plus I get many years of use out of them. Cant say a pair of nikes have ever lasted more than 6 months before they have broken down on me.

I dont think i said no shoes were not worth that much, just those.

You answered your own question.

Ok... the whole issue of $250 shoes aside...

If your brother has to wait a week before paying for $220 shoes then do him a favor and don't sell them to him. Seriously, this entire situation is full of fail and overflowing, but I like it, like it, yes I do!

l2 style

I have no problem with expensive shoes... but nikes?

oh wow. i missed that part lol.

i have a pair of nike airmax 360 that cost me $160. best shoes ever. i bought a backup pair so when these fall apart i got another one to fit into. (my feet are flat and wide so when i find a shoe that fits i gotta stick to it!)

I had this roomate who would design their own shoes on nike.com i think those ended up costing $300+.

It's basically settled. I told him I don't really want to sell him the shoes to begin with, but if he still wants them - you pay first, then you do whatever with them.

anyone who'd pay $250 for those shoes should have their head examined.

I'd get these before I'd spend $250 on those.

What's the purpose in those? Are they supposed to be really comfortable or something? Seems to me like it's the pansy alternative to going out barefooted.

$250 for a pair of sneakers? Man, no wonder people are broke and on welfare.

You have to be on welfare to afford them. 🙂 Seriously though, the worst neighborhoods I drive through seem to spend the most on athletic shoes.

I've also owned $20 shoes that were quite comfortable.

For $200+, I'd also expect them to last well over 15 years.

I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those.
I think they look insanely sweet. I just wouldn't pay $250 for them. They are absolutely worth every penny of $200. Bra, they are sick. THEY SAY HAWAII ON THE BACK AND ARE THE COLOR OF SNOT, how can you not like them?

Actually I've seen kids with these kinds of things on before, I figured they bought them from payless shoestore or something, total fail.

they're running shoes, they supposedly reduce injuries from running on hard pavement since humans evolved to run barefoot.
