My brother turns 21 in an hour... Will he be able to buy alcohol at midnight?

yes you can go to the bar at midnight the day you turn 21

in virginia you can go a full 24 hours befor. so if you B_day was dec 8th you woudl be able to drink legally on dec 7th
 
My gf went out around midnight of her 21st and they served her before it was midnight actually. I would say he would be able to. I would slap the person behind the counter upside the head if they refused me.
 
I think he's just thinking about going to the store and picking some up, not necessarily a bar. Stores sell until 2 or 2:30AM here.

As far as I know, all stores here that sell beer, sell it until 2 or 2:30AM, can't remember, 7 days a week.

And the 7-11 does it where I live.

Same in texas, last call at bars is 2am but beer/liquor stores have to stop selling at 12

You can buy it a full 2 years before then here 😛

But the experience of my friends is that you can't get into bars at midnight on your 19th. And since pretty much all liquor stores here are government run and close by 11 pm, I couldn't say about buying it.

Seriously though, is his Monday morning going to be that much better with booze?
 
I dont think the store is going to give a poop about a couple of hours on 21 years.

only have to be here 19 anyhow 😛

Yeah but in Texas its up to the cities. Alot of cities dont allow the sale of alcohol past midnight in bars. Then theres those dry counties.

I hate Texas and its pre-prohibition liquor laws. I currently live in a city where you can buy beer and wine in the grocery stores, but have to drive ten miles one way to get booze. My wife wants to move to get closer to work, but all the houses we have looked at are in dry cities. Dammit, I don't want to drive half an hour just to get some beer!
