This just in from ESPN, Farve is going to be a Buc within the next 24 hrs.
The deal isn't really anywhere near that close to being done. The Jets are offering a much better deal but Favre doesn't seem interested at all in going there. The talk about the Vikings seems to be nothing but smoke from the Pack as there hasn't been any real offers made or presented. The only thing going for the Buc deal, and even in that degree its still a bit of a stretch, is that Favre actually called and talked to Gruden.
Unless Favre wants to look like a schmuck and have the Packers ride him like a wet worn out trick pony, he'll suit up and show up at Packer practice. Off the record some of the veterans wonder why he is being treated as such and the media circus generated from
Favre standing with a clipboard while Rogers throws more interceptions during practice is about the only way he will get outright cut from the team.
Given the way the current Pack leadership is acting, I'm just hoping that they lay a nice egg on the season as the roasting they'll get from the media will be oh so funny; and if yesterday's press conference was any indication McCarthy may just blow up trying to give a couple more press conferences like that.
Now that Favre has been activated, the Packers can trade him to any team they want & Favre cant do a damn thing about it.
wrong.
FAvre has a the right to veto any trade.
Favre doesnt have a veto clause in his contract. Now, if he gets traded to another team he can choose to not show up essentialy vetoing the trade.
And the jets would need to make player cuts to stay under the salary cap the moment they traded for him with his contract size, which is why they won't finalize any trade until the here from the Favre man himself that he would show up and play.
