This just in from ESPN, Farve is going to be a Buc within the next 24 hrs.

The deal isn't really anywhere near that close to being done. The Jets are offering a much better deal but Favre doesn't seem interested at all in going there. The talk about the Vikings seems to be nothing but smoke from the Pack as there hasn't been any real offers made or presented. The only thing going for the Buc deal, and even in that degree its still a bit of a stretch, is that Favre actually called and talked to Gruden.

Unless Favre wants to look like a schmuck and have the Packers ride him like a wet worn out trick pony, he'll suit up and show up at Packer practice. Off the record some of the veterans wonder why he is being treated as such and the media circus generated from
Favre standing with a clipboard while Rogers throws more interceptions during practice is about the only way he will get outright cut from the team.

Given the way the current Pack leadership is acting, I'm just hoping that they lay a nice egg on the season as the roasting they'll get from the media will be oh so funny; and if yesterday's press conference was any indication McCarthy may just blow up trying to give a couple more press conferences like that.

Now that Favre has been activated, the Packers can trade him to any team they want & Favre cant do a damn thing about it.

wrong.

FAvre has a the right to veto any trade.

Favre doesnt have a veto clause in his contract. Now, if he gets traded to another team he can choose to not show up essentialy vetoing the trade.

And the jets would need to make player cuts to stay under the salary cap the moment they traded for him with his contract size, which is why they won't finalize any trade until the here from the Favre man himself that he would show up and play.

Why would the Jets want him? They already have an over-hyped, fragile QB (Pennington) on the roster. They would just be trading someone that gets hurt physically from the wind blowing to someone that gets hurt egotistically by anyone questioning him. He and the NY press corps are a match made in oil/water heaven.

LOL at the absurd comparisons to Barry Bonds and Kobe Bryant.

Obviously headed to a divorce; but like lupi said, besides the Packers holding steady that the Brett Favre era is over, they didn't handle this situation well at all. A lot of the chess moves have been performed in the media and neither side is looking pretty from it.

Apparently when your knee jerked, you couldn't read the entirety of my post. My comment about Farve (if he is going to pronounce it that way...I'm gonna spell it that way) getting hurt was related to his ego.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think that I have heard rumors that the NY media and fan base can be pretty hard on such a delicate flower's psyche.

He's flown back to Mississippi. Seems like we won't see him in uniform till a trade gets completed with another team.

I'm pretty Brett Freakin' Favre can make tons of money by being Brett Favre. I'm sure he doesn't have to play football.

I'd say buy your playoff tickets now but someone would probably laugh at that. :)

Unless someone wants Pennington bad enough that they are leaving messages now at the office, you'll be seeing his name on the cut list by early afternoon.

For the trade the pick given by the Jets starts as a 4th, goes to a 2nd if they make the playoffs, and becomes a 1st if gang green plays in the superbowl.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your starting lineup for the New York Jets; at Quarterback, out of the University of Southern Mississippi, Number 4, Brett Favre.

And it looks like there is no way the Vikings will be able to get him now. The trade requires to fork over 3 1st round picks if they trade him to the vikings.

Funny, it seems like the Jets are the retirement home of quarterbacks. They had Testeverde in his twilight years, and I think a couple others too.

Testaverdae had them 10-0 in the AFC Championship game before the defense folded late in the third quarter.

I agree....it was like Jordan becoming a Wizard

This is true, but do you guys really remember Jordan that much when he played on the wizards. I dont really think Jordans career is tainted, he is still the best the NBA has ever seen

A) Testaverde's best years were with the Jets
B) Testaverde went on to play another 10 years or so after that

I don't think going to the Jets is going to tarnish his career. I think his attitude this past offseason has more of a chance to do that, at least it got resolved in a relatively short period of time.

The pack finished last year 12-4, in overtime in the conference final. The Jets went 4-12.

Any slipdown from that by the pack will be PR heal for Rogers and the gm/coach till next season.

Even a mediocre Favre combined with other offseason moves will make it hard for there not to be a significant improvement by the Jets. And if he happens to play anywhere near as he did last year; that puts that much more pressure against the pack to succeed or eat fan wrath.
