any suggestions as to new seats i can buy or a gel pad thinggy that are good?

They make seats designed for women. Padded shorts too. Check out your local bike shop (not walmart) They can set you up

How long have you been riding? Since you started this season?

Break in your butt, it'll take time, by riding.

today was my first day in a loooong time... and its so uncomfortable i dont want to ride my bike anymore.

its a very cheap walmart-type bike. (i didn't want to spend a lot of money if i didn't end up riding it as much as i wanted)

Yep, that happens..

The pain will subside in a few days, but you can still get a better seat.

The first time I rode my bike in about a year, my "bum" hurt so bad I couldn't even sit on the bike the 2nd day. :Q

That is all.

😛

Wait, under? No, no, it's just a thong...

And we can just wait for the people of Galt getting upset by the thonged rider...

Talking from personal experience here? 😛

I found that proper riding shorts can help, just remember you need to go commando with them...

The shorts at least help with chaffing...

Yes, I went off road once and for some reason, I thought I needed to wear a thong under my bike shorts.

Two words:

Rope Burn

😛

edit: I mean, 'Once I went off road...".... I've been off road many times, only once in a thong. 😛

(as for pics, there is one of me and my husband about to hit the trails in a state park. I wasn't on my own bike, though. It was a crappy one I borrowed... no shocks, nothing.)

Most people don't know you shouldn't wear anything underneath bike shorts. The swear gets wicked away by them...

I know it now. 😛

Try riding for shorter times, at least until your butt gets tougher...

That's what I do, ride for 30 minutes a day for a week or 2 untill it doesn't hurt.

And since it's your first time in awhile, give it time and don't give up.

And don't forget to lift your butt up when you are going over bumpy spots!

😀

there is a particular type of bike seat made by serfas
http://www.serfas.com/rx_saddles/index_rx.html
that is special made to keep you going.
they also made this seat since there is a higher than average level of impotence in serious bike riders that comes from spending a lot of time pressing on the nerve clusters that meet down there.
if you get serious, get one of these.
