Well, the biggest reason is that there are some awesome priced combos for the Phenoms.

I found one that has a Phenom 9950 + Antec Nine Hundred for $218.99. Which is $50 off the total price. :shocked:

I've used Gigabyte boards in the past, Have 2 of their P35's, but not the newer P45. My current primary machine is running a DFI X48 that I got an insane deal on. I've been quite happy with the Gigabyte's, and have seen good reviews from both newegg and review sites on it (in fact, someone has one out today, check out the dailys for hardware reviews).

I do believe you will be happy. 🙂

What is this I hear about Intel heatsinks require push pins for mounting ?

Ill be honest here, my last 7 computers has always been AMD and they always used different methods. So I have never heard of this push pin thing.

I have read several forums that people seem to have problems pushing them into their 775 board. And that some think you have to push way to hard and could possibly damage something. But some seem to say its easy.

Any thoughts on this? Since I know there are a gazillion intel users here. 🙂

By the way, This cpu will eventually be getting a aftermarket Zalman cooler.
 
I don't like the push pins, but they're Intel approved so you shouldn't damage anything. I used them on 1 build, and thought they were a PITA. I prefer screwing the HS down, but that requires removing the MB of course.
 
So you are saying the pins isnt required to use ? They can be screwed down if the mboard isnt in the case ?
 
In a new build it is much better to install the CPU and HSF when the motherboard is still out of the Case.

Then add card and memory connect it to a PSU and test that it boots before you put the Mobo into the case.

When the Mobo is Out on its static bag it is Not a problem to gently push the Pins.

P.S. If one has clumzy touch some one else can asked to it. It does not need computer knowledge to Push The Pins.

Just to clarify my comment. If the HS comes with pushpins I'd use them. They're usable, just not my preference. I prefer using screw on HSs from 3rd party manufacturers.
 
pushpins seem flimsy but they do work. just make sure they are in full reset position and both the split tips are going through the hole before pushing down.
 
Thanks for the replies. I am considering however to get a Xigamtek Rifle cooler, or the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme.

I have read quite a few bad stories about the push pins. And I am not quite sure I want to deal with them.
