Washington Mutual is the best bank ever. I only had to pay for overdraft when an error occurred: Someone--of the same account but one number more--accidentally withdrew cash from my account (big sum). I had never felt as poor as I did at the time. I realised that poverty was a mentality, not necessarily a number. They quickly investigated the matter, sent me copies of the documents, promptly restored my account and all fees were refunded. Other than that incident, it's been perfect for me. I also helped my family members save a lot, whilst receiving good services, by introducting them to Washington Mutual. I learned about the bank when they were still American Savings Bank.

I also have an account with Union Bank of California (uboc.com). They were offering the lovely $75 reward. I use it to make transactions with my savings account. It's the regular account that would normally require monthly service charge, but the deal waives the fees for as long as you keep the account.

The last account I have is with Netbank.com. I have a savings account with them.

If your state offers Washington Mutual (www.wamu.com), I would highly recommend them for [free] chequing. They're the best! I've been with the bank since 1998.

I currently have Rockland Trust (a New England bank), nut everytime I need to get a new debit card (their stripes suck) they always either a) lose it in the mail ir b) takes two weeks to get to me.

Thankfully, my sister opened an account for at Navy Federal Credit Union. Other than the fact that the nearest branch is 70 miles away, I love them.

I use the Sea West Federal Credit Union, it's a Coast Guard thing (although I'm not in the coast guard, my eligibility is a long story). Haven't had any problems although they don't have any local branches so I'm good friends with my ATM. :)
