Ever since I've been going to this new branch its been nothing but mistakes!

First they lost a $320 CASH deposit that I made in person with a teller. :|

Second they ordered me new checks, they said no charge because they made a mistake on the original checks. Today I look at my acct. online and one of my checks has bounced!!:| It bounced because I had just enough to cover it until they charged me 13 bucks for my checks!!! Oh and not only did they charge me for my checks they waited 3 weeks to order them... they were supposed to order them the first week of November. On the 28th of November I realized my checks still hadn't arrived so I went in to check on them, they said the check place was closed for the holiday weekend and I never heard anything else. I just called today and found out they didnt order my checks until December 1st!!!!:|

Now I find out when I finally get my new checks I'm going to have to reorder them because they spelled my name wrong again!!!!!!!:|:|:|:|:|

I think its time (after five years) to find a new bank, anyone recommend me a decent one??

Small community banks and credit unions are great.
Personal service is much better in my opinion.

I had a similar experience at the Post Office today.
5 packages, 3 with insurance, 1 with insurance and delivery confirmation, and one with nothing.
Silly clerk is too busy talking to the person next to her and telling her boss about something that happened earlier.

So, anyways, she ends up messing it up totally, don't even ask me to explain.
Then she can't find one of the packages she thought she threw into the big basket on wheels thing, but fell on the floor.

I wish they would concentrate.. I don't get mad at stuff like that, cuz it happends too much and i know to keep my mouth shut and just smile.

Join the club....got a call from my insurance company today telling me that my homeowners insurance was being cancelled due to non-payment and that I had until Jan 15 to find a new plan. I was thinking WTF since my insurance is auto deducted each month. They said when they put the transfer through yesterday it came back as NSF. I knew that couldn't be right so I called my credit union....after looking at my account the schmucks realized that on Friday they had deducted my car payment account 4 times....4 freaking times.....at $450 a pop mind you.....they didn't realize it until I called....I hadn't caught it because I had plenty of $ in my wallet and hadn't needed to go by. They of course said they were sorry....yeah thanks....and that the money would be back in my account by tomorrow morning. Gee...thanks....you only managed to get my homeowners insurance cancelled. Dipsh1ts! They went on to explain that they had computer problems and had to do all the transactions by hand last Friday and someone had just entered my car payment 4 times. Not only that....but if my account I use for auto payments, I have a separate one setup for that, goes below a certain amount they are supposed to transfer $1000 out of my savings account. Well they didn't do that either so my payment account was sitting at a grand total of $1.35 as of today. Assholes....I just wonder how many other auto payments have failed...I think only my natural gas bill triggers on the 10th with my car payment...have to get home and look to make sure that is the case.

Bank of America kicks ass, for me at least. Great online banking and awesome customer service.
However Farmers & Merchants is a great bank too.

Just like web hosting, there is no one perfect company for everyone.

I would highly recommend joining a local Credit Union.

Better interest rates for savings.
Lower interest rates for loans, credit cards, car loans and mortgages.
Better customer service.
Lower or no fees.

How can a bank lose your deposit if you made it in person? Weren't you given a receipt by the teller? Did you keep this receipt?

Yup I had a receipt thankfully!!! The deposit just never showed up... they had no record of it at all and I think they still dont have a record of it because it shows as a misc deposit online...

You know I would go with a credit union but I cant stand being charged for using an ATM and I just know it would be that way with a small credit union... I'll look into them though...

Time for a new bank. I would not allow any bank to make that mistake even once and continue with them. It's alarming that I've heard of others with this problem. In Canada I've deposited cash into ATMs on countless ocassions and never in person. I've never heard of anybody having money lost in this manner with royal bank, but down in the US with my bank I'm to the point that if it's more than $50 I'm taking it into the bank to try with a teller. Apparently in your case it would hardly help though!

Banks have been sending all of the administrative work that was done by a human in front of a computer so it is no surprise to see the level of competence go down the crapper.

Also many Banks will be going belly up and merging like crazy in the next 6-12 months. Washington Mutual (7th largest bank) laid off 7,400 employees today alone.

You didn't ask me, and I have no idea, but I'd guess that the automation of unskilled labor is cutting a lot of people out of work.

Yeah, how is it that the failure rate for order accuracy is like 10% or higher? I mean DAMN it's _so freaking easy_. EASIEST JOB IN THE WORLD (besides surfing the net all day at work), and they always get them wrong!

WAMU got its ass kicked when the mortgage rates went up in July. They were inadequately hedged and had promised their customers unlimited rate lock extensions for their mortgage loans in process (time between application and closing) during the low rate boom earlier this year.
Unfortunately, process time was running in excess of 4 months and WAMU was bleeding all over the secondary mortgage market. It got so bad they hired thousands of temps to speed up the process, and a processing employee who allowed the rate lock on a loan-in-process to expire (i.e. neglected to get the lock extended prior to expiration) would be fired. Those loans are now all funded and WAMU is laying as many people off as they can to cover the fact that they just lost millions and millions...
I know this because my GF is now an ex-WAMU employee. :(
