Lots of people rather have a brand new car, even if it's not as good as a used on for the same price or cheaper. That's why there are so many brand new Cavalier and Elantra on the road. Women seem to like the Corolla a lot. It has such a mild manner about it. The design isn't offensive to the eye, the engine is quiet, the ride soft, quiet and comfortable.

now thats a real car. my friend has the exact same thing. he put flowmaster on it, put a nice dvd kit in, 19 inch rims with z rated tires, and a 2000W system. not only is it a pimp ride, but it'll eat a lot cars for breakfast

A 2001 Maxima for $4000 cheaper? Damn the Corolla here is like 13,000 for the CE model...I would have jumped on the Maxima anyday. My brother has a 2003 Corolla, that car is very...bland.

yup, i found a lot of 2000-2001 in the 13-14K price range w/ 30-40k miles (which still makes it a baby).

my aunts corolla came out to 18K after tax and registeration

she got ripped off on the corolla... we had a dealer ready to give us the 2004 corolla for 14k out the door, with a/c, power everything, and automatic.

A Maxima doesn't get 35-40 MPG like the Corolla. If she wants a high quality, smooth riding, brand new car with a new car warranty that gets great mileage, instead of a 3 year old Nissan that gets like 25 MPG, on premium fuel, with higher insurance, good for her. You need to accept that her priorities aren't the same as yours, and you're probably not ever going to change that.

Your eye-rolley rant sucks! :D

2004 vs 2001? oh come on. esp as the 04 maxima is out and really makes the old one..look OLD!

old car reliability vs new car reliability? new car wins
toyota reliability vs nissan reliability? toyota wins
likelyhood that a muscular sedan like a maxima was driven hard by its previous owner? very high.
gas usage? toyota wins
the toyota has less horses? who the f*ck cares. well atleast your aunt probably doesn't. point A to B in relative comfort and ease of use is what she's looking for.
peace of mind for your aunt who doesn't get oil on her hands? priceless.

2004 corolla: 0-60 is 1579657654354657641233 seconds

i guess Thegonagle is right about the priorities. i'd be more than willing to take a used car that gives worse gas mileage but KILLS the corolla off the line

I agree completely. The Maxima is nice, but there's nothing like a brand new car.. and the Toyota is hardly a POS.

what matters is your aunt doesn't have to "compensate" for anything.

and...why the hell would you're aunt want a "phat ride"...can't you understand that some people don't have the same take on a car that you do?

i understand she has different tastes, but in my opinion and my opinion alone, i thought she was getting an overall better car with the maxima. just an opinion
