Do you guys really measure your speed in mph and distance in km? Don't you find that kind of annoying?

No, I always think in miles. 5K is just a common race distance and a good base mileage for running. Like SC says it's also 3.1 miles, so I usually just truncate to 3m.

5k is nearly 3 miles so it's less annoying that it may seem.

Apparently it's harder to keep straight than it seems, because 3 miles is nearly 5k ;)

Personally I track distance in kilometers and pace in min/km, but I also don't live in the US...

Lol, I didn't mean nearly as "not quite" I meant nearly as in "near." :) I wish I was taught in km and knew what certain km/hour looked/felt like. Instead, I'm but a lowly American using miles/hour on a kilometer course. It's not so bad :p

I track distances in kms (although I post on the forum in miles), but I pace in min/mile, since most of the marathon training programs are written by Americans. How's that for confusing? :D

Reg - have you looked at doing an actual 5K? And have you looked into putting or having a training plan put together? Doing 3-3-3-3 will only get you the benefits of running 3 miles hard each day, which just drains your energy level. You need some easy runs and also a long run once a week, and you'd benefit from other various types of training. (Track, interval, tempo, etc)

I agree. Reg is making good progress so far, but he'll quickly flatline if he doesn't vary his training a bit.

Good suggestions RB. Also, I posted a few tips earlier in the thread.

Switch it up a bit Reg, and you'll eventually see your 5k time drop even further.
