My 360 'turns off' when it doesn't get video feed

gorcorps

aka Brandon
So I switched to using an HDMI cable and ever since then my 360 has been resetting every time the video source gets switched to something else, then back on to HDMI even though the 360 seems to stay on. Is this a feature that can be changed and I'm missing it?

I've noticed something similar, now that you mention it. I suspect this is one of several HDMI-related bugs the 360 has...

Looks like it's a problem w/ HDMI and using either the audio adapter or the VGA cable for the audio, which I was doing. When I just have the HDMI cable on it's own plugged in I have no problems.

If you're willing to clip a wire in the adapter or the VGA cable that plugs into the 360, you can get around this (so it stops resetting/turning off). Let me find a link...

Here is the thread where I found out how to do it: avsforum. I've done it on both a monoprice component cable and the MS component cable.

Yeah, I had to clip the black loop wire for it to stop swithing or resetting when I switched sources.

Funny how sometimes timing of the posts is so perfect. I just connected my new arcade via HDMI and immedeatly noticed that it restarts every time I go through hdmi inputs on the switch. The link provided by Oyeve is a life saver as it took me all of 2 minutes to implement the hack and have fully compliant Xbox 360 with HDMI video and Optical audio.
Thanks guys!

Yeah it does to me, too. It's driving me fvcking bonkers. I cannot even boot the thing up until the tv is dead set on HDMI and heaven forbid I want to go to TV for a moment to DVR something.

Ah, that could be it!

What page is this described on? There are 9 in that thread.
