My kids school called me and my ex to see where our boys were since they were not at school...I thought that they were at school, no reason not to be. The principal goes to my ex's house and knocks on the door, they dont answer. My ex calls me and I leave work and head to her place. Kids said they didnt feel like going to school so I reamed them both out and took them to school. Spoke to the teachers and principal and asked that if this happens again, call the police. That will scare the bejeezers out of them. Unfortunately they have now lost all priveledges for 1 month at my place, no dinners out, no PS2/Xbox/Gamecube ,no tv and no computers. Its just homework time now. I hope they learn their lesson by this. Oh and did they ever looked pissed and embarased sitting in class.

Excellent job on the punishment.

Agreed with the punishment 😎

Its really not going to turn out that well, they are probably already not that socially oriented. He embarrassed them in front of everyone, and now they can't do anything for a month. This is just the start of a horrible social life later in school.

*shrug* ain't my problem tho. Thats probably what happened to a lot of people here.

LOL......way to make completely random generalizations. armchair parenting, FTW!

Well, give him some credit, he speaks from experience.

What's wrong with you kids? :| I never skipped a day of school, not even when I was sick and was sent home cuz I kept puking everywhere.

It had been ingrained in my mind that it was absolutely necessary to go to school each and everyday.. even Chinese school on Saturdays.

Edumacation FTW!!!

Good parenting from the OP. I'd be just as strict, if not stricter, if I were a parent.

good stuff. maybe you guys could add some positives incentives if they go above and beyond....like B+ averages.

If they're asian they should be punished asian style 🙂.

Feather stick...
Big ass paper fan...
Slap in the butt...
Slap in the face.
Slap in the hand...
Knockout.
Ban from privileges (like the OP did)
Make sure they get A's now...

C+ average? Too low, if you ask me.

If my parents had made me achieve something higher; I may have turned out better.

How about offering to remove a day off their grounding for each A they get?

Good for you! I'm glad someone cares enough to intervene when it is needed -- ignore all the little ATOT beasts that moan about it since their parents let them destroy themselves 😉

I am sure that they will get better grades than a C+, we just wanted them to feel good about themselves. The rewards are there as they get allowances and they get $ for A's and B's in school. I am also planning on taking both of them for a week in California at Six Flags in the summer. They do not know this yet.

Jeebus.. C+? I was beaten till those As came in. Kids these days.... There was never an award for straight As on the report card. It was more like "You should be getting them anyways." I don't think I ever got an award for my grades in high school nor my admissions I got. It was always a "Gotta get good grades to get into good college" type thing that pushed me.

I wished I had a motivator today to do better in college :-(

If my parents did something like this, I'd have gone around the world several times by now. You rock! 😀

Dave

Reminds me of my next door neighbors several years ago. They had a teenaged son who got his driver's license. They bought him a car and told him that screwing up would lose him the car. He didn't believe them and, a few weeks later, took the car and some friends out to play hooky for the day. His mom and dad sold the car and his mom, for 6 weeks, drove him to school, took him by the hand and walked him to class. Not only did his next car require him to save up the purchase price, but all the other teenagers in the neighborhood were scared straight.

Awesome! Of course, the high number of spoiled kids on ATOT will think that Draconian.

My parents did the same thing, made me get signatures in notebook, get c+ grade, etc... What did it do? It just made me fustrated exspecially when your teacher held you random to it "well I'll sin it if you do this for me". It's a simple run around and is only to make your kids crazy. How did I learn my lesson? I faced reality and failed a class (junior high-shcool so it didi'nt matter) they came up told me they could hold me back etc... that threw alot of sense into me and I now have a b+ average, have never skipped school or anything. Yes grounding your kids helps, but making them get signatures for homework (in my opion) is not very smart. They need to become more responsible for themselves (even though they are young). You can't always be there to help them with their homework, etc..

Just my 2 cents

Flame away.
