My 1035T has an unlocked mutiplier....

I bought a 1035T off ebay for $115 for my secondary PC (From a sempron).

I went to O/C and the multi is 100% unlocked. I am running it at 17.5 right now (3.5Ghz) without even bumping the CPU voltage up....

I can't seem to find anything comfirming this is unlocked CPU because I bought it expecting it to be locked as its a OEM only CPU.

Did I get a engineering sample or something?

I have actually heard of this before, I remember someone on another forum bought a 1065T (95 watt) unlocked cpu a few months back.

What information does CPUZ say about it?

Here ya go.....

^That is very cool.

If ever you get a chance to note the batch code written atop the IHS, could you add it to the thread? Pretty please... I know that it's a pretty big hassle and not worth it if your not planning on removing the chip from the motherboard. But if ever you do get the opportunity to easily do so...

Yep it is. I will sometime for you. I just installed it with a Corsair A70 cooler I got for under $30 too!

I still cannot find anybody else who has one unlocked. Even the comments on Newegg are people wishing it was unlocked, etc.

Do the above stepping/revisions mean anything to anybody?

Either CPU-Z needs a new editor or you guys missed something. The processor's name is being identified as "Phenom II X6 1030T," not "1035T."

EDIT: Also, no Thubans (or K10s in general) have a 109W TDP. Something is definitely up here. I've seen proper CPU-Z screens of 1035Ts before, too.

Well I thought they looked out of whack but I know nothing of this type of processor to be honest. I didn't even know a 1035T existing till I saw it on egg, then I looked on ebay and found this puppy for sale.

Came from Toronto area.

Are you talking unlocking cores?

I don't have anything set for unlocking, and it shows up as a 1035T in my Bios of my motherboard 100% default settings with a unlocked multiplier.

I'm just guessing is all, I guess you just got real lucky.
I was thinking mabe your board has a setting to auto unlock or something.

It looks like it might be an unlocked chip. I do recall CPU-Z reporting some pretty odd things on unlocked chips before. The Athlon X2 5000+ (one of AMD's first 45nm parts) could be unlocked to "Phenom FX 5000." One of the Zosma chips - I think 650T or something - can be unlocked to "Phenom X6 1505T."

Could you post a CPU-Z report text file? Or maybe just one of the thread dumps. (ie the text between the lines reading CPU Thread 0 to CPU Threat 1) It would be interesting to compare the raw CPUID values to those of a normal 1035T.

I will tonight when I'm home from work 🙂

I've seen at some overclockers named site (don't remember exactly) a couple years ago and they unlocked I think a sempron to a dualcore and since the motherboard only reconized it as a Unknown Processor he was able to raise the multipliers.

Since then i've believed that its bios code that determines whether it unlocks or not and the multiplyers isn't hard wired. But this may have already been known. Or just a fluke.

I also want to say that I have a X3 940 BE that I mess around with once in awhile and on some mobo's if I set the multi to say 3400mhz, the next chip I put in retains that multiplier even though its not a black edition. 🙂 Until you save the bios again. I thought that was kinda wierd as well. 🙂

I also have a unlock x2 Business Class C3 revision cpu that always defaults to 2200mhz Northbridge instead of 2000mhz like it should be. I tried it in multiple mobo's and it still defaults to 2.2ghz. Also wierd?

Anyways I figured I would mention some of my experiences. 🙂

UPDATE:

A couple weeks ago I updated to the 990FX board in anticipation of Bulldozer, which everyone knows by now I screwed up. Turns out I'm not going to spend $250 on it as I've decided to cancel my order and stick with my X6 till Piledriver comes out.

Now... The odd part. The 1035T that had an unlocked multi on my previous Gigabyte boards.. well its now a locked CPU (as it should have been) on my MSI 990FX board.

Oddly enough, both chipsets I used before are 880G boards from Gigabyte.

Now for the crappy part,

I cannot get my CPU to Overclock past 2860 MHz with a locked multi. I've done everything I possibly can think off. It does this O/C at 1.35v. I can give it all the way up to 1.5V after this and can't get a step further. I'm keeping my memory as close to 1333 as possible, and my HT as close to 2000 as possible. I've removed ram down to One stick, I've bumped voltages on Ram and NB... It won't go past 2860.00

I had this running at 3.4GHz before like nothing when the Multi was unlocked.

Any Ideas?

EDIT: The odd 109w TDP (it should be 95w) still remains on the MSI board.
