mx518 vs mx1000

Wired > wireless

IMHO.

When i used my MX1000, i didn't find it as precise in UT2k4 as my MX510, but maybe that's just me. However, most people claim it's just as good.

go for the 518 man,
its 1600 dpi and wired is more reliable for gamers.

wireless is for normal users who don't abuse the mouse =)

The MX1000 has the same 800dpi Optical Sensor as the mx510; batteries and the laser in place of an LED are the only differance between 510 and 1000, 518 is in a class of it's own. It will be only a matter of time before they replace the LED in the 518 with a laser and call it somthing like an MX600. 😀

The MX518 has it's own 1600dpi sensor, my fist day with this mouse and I was shooting stuff and scoreing points that I did not think were possible with my old mx500(800dpi). Just one catch though, I am running Windows 2000 Professional and the software won't install unless I have XP, If anyone know of a hack around this let me know since I despise XXXP.

I am going to work on one of my own when I have time to get over to my mothers home and use her PC. I will install it there and see if I can find a crack. But if you know of a crack for setpoint software or an emulator that fools programs into running on 2k(since the 2 are almost the same) please let me know.

That could be due to the sampleing rate of USB plus the tax USB places on the CPU. USB has a 125Hz sampleing rate vs PS/2 having 200hz (or more if you overclock it). Also The MX1000 IS Wireless and that has it's own effect on sampling. Besides that the two mice have the same CMOS sensor.
