I can see how that would be acceptable for some items, but like I said.. with some things.. like antiques, one of a kind items, or things that you really need.. it doesen't work the same way(in the minds of the bidders). Um, you could have just used proxy bidding. If you were willing to pay 195 then put in 195.
All too often, people get caught up in wanting the item, so when you proxy bid early.. it just inflates the price even more.
Sniping in the last seconds is the only way to do it.

Well if I want an item and I'll pay a maximum of $35 for it, I could care less when I put in the bid or if some lil bitch outbids me with 2 seconds to go. I'd rather do that than hit refresh 10 times a minute with a minute left
I usually have 2 or 3 windows open, all with incrementally higher bids.. with my password typed in. During the last 30 seconds or so, you watch.. and if anybody outbids you, just alt+tab-enter.
