Obviously you can like both and use both, but if you had to pick only one which do you like better?

Mustard. I like Ketchup but Mustard is much more versatile whereas Ketchup has no place other than on burgers and hotdogs.

Mustard can be used on many things, whereas ketchup is pretty much only good for burgers and dogs and fries. I know some folks put it on eggs and stuff. Thats gross.

ketchup is 2nd only to mayonnaise in the list of demon spawns of satan that humans should not consume.

I prefer Ranch, Franks, BBQ, Vinegar, Horseradish... in that order.

i would go with mustard as the base of sauces? as with ketchup base of many BBQ sauces?

that being said, there are far more varieties of just mustard: dijon/white wine, deli, porter, stout, spicy, etc.

ketchup never took off with their gimmicky attempts to match the versatility and awesomeness of the various mustard varieties.

alternatively, you can think of it this way:

Honey Mustard? win.
Honey Ketchup? fail.

Ketchup by far. I don't think I've ever ordered mustard on anything since elementary school.

Mustard by a long shot. I don't really see the purpose of ketchup; I grew out of it once I hit puberty.

I used to hate mustard, but I've been liking it a lot lately. It still isn't anywhere as good as ketchup though.
