So which is it, $10k or "slightly below"?
Internet knowledge. Doesn't matter that the V6 is putting out the same horsepower as the last gen V8. Never will, either. Why all the hate on V6 mustangs when they still have 300+ horsepower?
Call it a taxi-cab for all it matters. Can you identify another car that can do what that V6 Mustang can at its price? Why would I want to drive a pretend muscle car?
I won't wait for your Mustang photos.
You mean this 2011 Mustang GT I bought my wife in 2010 with 7 miles on the odometer?

Yeah, you're probably right. 😛

I don't get the pretentious arguments against the V6. I bought a 2012 V6 last summer because I was looking for a new car in the $18,000 to $25,000 range. To me, the Mustang seemed like a great value considering the horsepower and handling. What car should have I bought instead?
And others place far too much emphasis on torque; HP gives a much better indication of a car's performance numbers than torque, even if lots of torque is nice to have. I'd rather a 2010 mustang GT than a 2011 V6, but when you look at the HP vs weight of them you see similar numbers, and that's also why they do pull off about the same 1/4. Torque to weight ratio is totally meaningless and would tell a person nothing.Look at the torque and power curves of both engines and then try to say that the V6 is just as good.
Basically what you have are people who only look at published HP numbers seeing comparable numbers and thinking "but but, see, it's just as good!" because they don't understand that there is much more to how a car drives than a HP rating.
It has nothing to do with internet knowledge.
I don't consider it a muscle car, that's all. IMO muscle car = V8 + manual. Anything less is watered down. There are people out that say, "hey, I wanted a GT but didn't want to drive a stick, so I got an automatic." Well Ford fixed that by not even offering the option on the Boss 302 and Shelby. Which basically translated into, if you want an automatic, go buy another car. We're not watering down these models. Same with the V6, it's like a watered down "muscle car." That being said, I realize without the V6 Mustang, there would be no GT, Shelby, SuperSnake or whatever other Mustang.
There is no disputing the V6 Mustang is the best V6 Mustang ever produced. But it's still a 6. Just my opinion, doesn't mean you have to agree with it. If you are happy with your purchase, that's all that counts. You don't need me to pat you on the back.
I agree with this V6 part, it's a real stretch calling the V6 Mustang a muscle car. I am not sure if it could be even if it was supercharged up to 400 HP, although objectively it would be very quick and very pleasing to drive. I have always said there's nothing like the sound of a V8 at full throttle. It shakes your bones, and if it doesn't you're dead inside.I don't consider it a muscle car, that's all. You bought it for your wife? What do you drive, and aren't you jealous of her?
Since muscle cars are known for straight line performance (though the current ones can turn), how do you reconcile your view with the potential for the automatic to run a quicker 1/4 mile than the manual, even with the best drivers? 😉
edit: full disclosure: I own a 6.4L challenger with an automatic 😉

It's not so much about speed, but more about driving the car rather than the car driving you. To me, an auto sports car is just boring. Hell the GTR will slap her car around, but the main complaint about the GTR is that it has too many nanny controls, and that anyone can put up good times in the car. At that point it becomes more about having a better car, not a better driver. Do you want the car to steer for you too? I'm sure a computer will have a better response and track times if it can steer the car for you too. 😉
Like I said, you had no intentions of buying a V6 Mustang or a BRZ. 🙂
Original point stands.
It really doesn't matter because the people on this forum slamming the Mustang aren't going to go buy one off the lot anyway, or a BRZ for that matter.
Mustangs aren't muscle cars anyway. They are pony cars 🙂.
I much prefer that I can either shift (via auto-stick), or not depending on whether or not I feel like it at the time. My commute is too stop and go for me to really want a manual again at this point in my life.
If the traffic is so bad it bothers you that much what would be the point of buying a performance car anyway. Might was well just be driving a toyota corolla.
Perhaps I drive in scenarios other than my daily commute....
Hmm...
Just maybe.
