Mustang V6 vs Subaru BRZ

brz does NOT have prius tires.

After doing some more reading, it seems both of us are right.

The JDM Prius with the performance package comes with the Michelin Primacy HP the Subaru BRZ comes with.

The US version comes with low resistance standard all season tires.

They're stickier than I originally thought, but probably not as sticky as the P Zeroes on the Mustang.

Why all the hate on V6 mustangs when they still have 300+ horsepower? I guess standards just change? The V6 10 years ago had 193 horsepower.

I get the V8 is better and not a whole lot more expensive but its not like the V6 is SLOW.

this is correct.

It certainly isn't. I guess for me it's just the sound difference. I much prefer to have one of the best sounding V8s money can buy.

A few thousand more?? The V8 is $10k more!

The V6 starts at $22k and the V8 is something like $31k. That's almost a 50% price increase for 2 more cylinders and 100 more hp and some options that probably suck

Friends don't let friends buy V6 Mustangs.

Name one other car that does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, 1/4 mile in high 13s, 60-0 in 110 ft, .93 g’s lateral acceleration, and gets 30 mpg, all for under $25k.

Yes I have a 2012 V6 and have personally seen all of the above happen. Oh and I paid 22k out the door, brand spanking new. Throw a supercharger on there and some suspension mods and I'd still be under the price of a brand new BRZ but I'd be competing with M3's.

I love the BRZ, I think it's an excellent car, but having douchebags like you who have never driven the new Mustang V6 spew garbage that is no longer relevant helps no one. In 2010 I would agree with your statement. It's not 2010 anymore.

It's actually $8800 more currently. For some reason I thought the V6 was more expensive and the GT was 29k, as it was when introduced.

I couldn't ever bring myself to buy either new, because the true value of Mustang's is on the used market.

Why would I want to drive a pretend muscle car? If you actually put a supercharger in your V6, I'll start taking you seriously. But we all know, you ain't putting a supercharger in your Mustang. That's not what V6 owners normally do.

Great post.

There is a reason a lot of people buy a V6 Mustang convertible (especially). Its pretty fast 300hp, open top, and start at 27k. Where else can you get a convertible at that price, with good performance and great gas mileage?

The base Mustang at 22k is a STEAL. You had to pay more like 30k 5-6 years ago to get that kind of performance, and still you probably had 2/3 of the MPGs. Its a great all-around sporty car. 10k more is a LOT for the GT, although the V8 is a great engine. I have driven both the V6 and V8, and I can see the argument for both.

I've looked them up on Craigslist and the asking prices are only slightly below new. What kind of sucker buys a 2005 Mustang GT for $15000? It's a freaking 7 year old car

Because not everyone is rich or has rich parents to be able to afford a $31k car

almost half off is slightly below new?

i paid ~12k for a 6 year old truck, that cost over 25 new, so I guess I am a sucker too?

So which is it, $10k or "slightly below"?

Subaru BRZ looks pretty sweet.

When I first heard of it, I thought it looks like it might be the new Miata. He made the same comparison in the video. If I were in the market for a new car, the BRZ would probably be my top choice.
