Nah, thats no fun 😉 , but seriously, it doesn't work, they just sit their and think of different ways to get you round to their way of thinking...

I had a door-to-door Mormon stand in the street in front of my house for about three hours when my wife told him I wasn't there and he had to leave :Q
If I had been awake I would've *ahem* had him leave 😉

I have always wanted a bumper sticker than says "God is dead" to poke fun at those "Jesus Lives" stickers. I can honestly say I see more Christians with crap on their cars than Jewish people or Muslim, or Hindus, etc.

The Good News is worth sharing. If there is no good news, .......well, no bumper sticker required.

Don't you hate it when people shove religion down your throat? I'm all for being open minded and respect of other peoples opinions and beliefs, and I will sit down and listen to anyone that is willing to talk about whatever, but I hate it when people shove their religion down your throat like converting you will gain them some extra 'brownie points' in heaven or whatever they belive in. Why do they do this, why do they feel that I would be better off beliveing in there religion and that I will instantly be happier for it? I respect their views on God, why cannot they respect mine?

I hear ya !! People who try to make me believe what they believe makes me sick....

In developing/under-developed countries, these people offer food, clothes, etc., to attract poor people. Well, it ain't any better in US. Did u guys encounter the people who give free monday lunches, free tuesday lunches for international students? What do u think is the motive? 🙂

This thread reminds me of a face to face debate I had with an atheist a few years back. He accused me of being "closed minded" because I believe in Christ.

When I asked him to listen to my reasoning, he refused! So much for open minded discussion.

When a Christian provides food, clothing and shelter, it's the demonstration of Christ in their lives. You don't have to speak when doing good works, your good works glorifies God and others see it and understand it.

The agenda? Peace with God.

Are you an international student in America?

That is a really nice thing to do and I agree that it is a demonstration of God in their lives. 🙂 But, do they have to preach/talk about their own religion at that time. Can't everyone discuss their religion/faith?

Wow, good to know that other people feel the same way.

Hahahahahahaha....thats funny.

I am open minded and will listen to whatever you have to say. I will take it on-board and think about it.

I am nice to people in similar ways and will bend over backwards to help someone. I do this because I think I am a nice guy, do they?

Could you give us an example so we can have a basline for debate.

This is a vastly exagerated stereotype though. Unless you're talking about Jehova's Witnesses, then that's a completely different story... 😉

this thread will just become a flame war and you will get nothing but religion bashing.....but it seems you're looking for that, so carry on.

...which brings us to another point. If you question religious folks, you are suddenly bashing them. This brings me to another point again, since they hate the questioning then that shows that they aren't concerned with the truth.

It makes no sense though. I don't run around the streets yelling "God doesn't exist, you're fools, you're wasting your time". I don't try and convert them over to atheism for the extra brownie points or commission, so why must they? Not a God flaming post, just a curious one

I guess you could say I'm a very religious person, and I'm sorry that you've had negative experiences with people being too forceful of their beliefs. Not all "religious people" are the same. I know that I can't make anyone believe anything, it's God's work. I'm willing to explain my beliefs to anyone at any time, but you can be sure that I won't be forceful.

OK, I know this girl in the US who is very into her religion (christianity) and can't understand or comprehend that I don't believe in God. The first question every time we speak is "have you made a decision about God yet?", then followed by abnout 30 mins to an hour of her re-iterating her beliefs and how God is testing me by doing the things that have led me not to believe in him, which is then followed by her getting really stressed because I still have the same conclusion.

I'll admit that everyone that I have met who is religious isn't like this, but the people that I have seen as of late that are like it are Catholics and Christians (the majority rligions in my area).
*sigh* take this somewhere else.
You're right, I should have posted this one in......um......Operating Systems, no wait....Technical Support.....no wait, STFU

Thats good to know that some people have some respect of others beliefs and choices...😉

Yes we're out there. 🙂

The reason evangelicals evangelize is the same reason you would try to warn a commuter that the bridge was out. It is an attempt to save you from danger. Even if the attempt is misguided, why would you get so mad?

You know, for all of my 20 years of life and hanging out with religious and non-religious people, I have never had anyone shove religion down my throat. No one's come close. Who are you hanging out with?

there are alot of peoplewith whom I have tryed to have intelligent conversations with, regarding were humanity came from, and it seems to ma that everytime I get the same response back from christians stating that "well it's simple really, god created the world in 7 days(or however long it is) and that is that." so I ask "were did god come from, the answer "god didn't come from anything, god created everything." now to me that sounds really really stupid and pathetic, and a "bit" far-fetched.

I mean I am open minded about religion, and I do belive in a higher being, but these "over the top" christians need to have some faith in them selves, and not always say, "well I have to thank the lord and savior jesus christ, because if it weren't for him I would be a moron."

I mean come on ppl are you that self centered, that "god" is taking time out of his life to help you win the superbowl come on people grow a brain.

So where do you think the universe came from?
