Must all people with newer pickup trucks speed?

I might be wrong but it seems like almost every newer pickup truck I've seen seems to be speeding quite a bit. What it is about that? Does all that extra weight and size of the vehicle give the driver a sense of confidence to approach higher speed limits? Or are these people in a hurry for something? Are the vehicles now made so that the higher speeds aren't noticeable due to sound insulation along with other things?

I can understand a little bit. I rented a nice newer Ram not too far ago and I could not slow down at all. I mean, going well in excess of the speed limit was nothing for the vehicle.

Ha, I had the same thought last Friday. I do agree that most of the newer pickup trucks seem to love barreling down the road above average traffic speed. Certainly could just be bias though.

It's perspective. You feel like you are going slower because you are sitting higher up. 😛 Due to the increased horsepower and smoothness of the ride, you don't notice.

Maybe the safety factor as well? I drove my friends pick up truck a lot and it felt REALLY safe while I was driving it. I didn't speed though since it wasn't mine.

Well, most of them are usually in the left lane or trying to get to the left lane to get around a "slower" driver. I am biased though 😀

People who buy pickups are generally massive douchecanoes. Or they need a truck. I can never tell.

When I drove a truck I felt just about invincible.

Yeah I guess waiting another 30 seconds to pick up your lumber is definitely too long ...

They probably have other shit to do besides picking up lumber. Luckily for you there is a very very easy solution, stay in the left lane and you'll be fine. If you're on a one laner then slow down (slowly, don't break check em) until they pass you and continue about your merry way. If you are doing the speed limit in the right lane I hope you get Ebola.

They the same guys used to drive Mustang 5.0's and thought they were bad ass.

More or less.

I see a lot of fail F150 drivers down here.

Used to have a GMC High Sierra 4X4 I drove years ago and still have a Jeep that rides pretty high, so I'm not just talking from the low ground perspective.

I understand! I'm not complaining (too much) ... just observing ...

In my neck of the woods the left lane is the fast one.

Trucks are incredibly smooth and they have so much power that going high speed feels just as smooth as low speeds. My Titan is much smoother than the Acura TL I have at high speeds. I can not imagine how nice a new ford or dodge feels. Brakes are the only thing I worry about some times. The Acura stops on a dime. Titan not so much.

I would say it is way more dangerous with the idiots in the fast lane going the speed limit. Stay in the middle or slow lanes. You don't deserve to be in the left lane. Germany has it right left lane is only for passing. Never pass on the right. You are not even supposed to stay in the left lane long. It is illegal to cruise In it.

I was taught the same. Stay right unless you're overtaking. Then again I was also taught you never go over 74 on a 65.

Like unloading the old lady off at the bar, picking up a hooker, delivering hooker's body out to the woods, running over a dog, and loading up the old lady again.

I don't see how that can be a factor considering a bunch of cars are that way too.

Drive an Ecoboost F150. You will speed too.

The Ecoboost F150 isn't really any faster than the new Silverado, or the Ram though.

All can get to 60 right about 5.6 seconds, depending on the exact version, which probably really surprises anyone who tries to beat a "pickup truck" in a stoplight drag. 😀

My co-worker just bought a Tacoma crew-cab, $34K, he lives 1.5 miles from work. Nice truck but the gas mileage is worse than a Hellcat.

Let's not get all caught up in pointing fingers too much. We're all guilty of speeding. I was just pointing out that the pickup truck drivers tend to be a bit faster. Nothing personal.
