Still amazes me, with the mess that the african continent is in, that these countries are able to remain countries. Ive had friends that have volunteered over there, and they always amaze me with stories of fear and the complete insanity of just trying to live a day in those "countries".

What I?m trying to say is that organizations use religion to shield their murderous intents, it sells well. The Taliban does it, the KKK does it, as do anti-abortionists and thousands more throughout history. Now African Muslims are misinterpreting scripture that?s was intended on improving the morals of society, and using it to harass some poor woman whose been raped and couldn?t bring herself to kill the child in her womb. Her only crime was being brought up in a messed country at a messed time. Some of the comments on the 1st page of this thread make me sick. May the Virgin Mary and her son Jesus (also born out of wedlock) piss down the throats of those who think this woman deserves to die.

There you said THEY ALL. So if you were in a moment of rage, then who cares. But I saw a generalization I didnt agree with. You were blaming an entire group on the faults of the extreme. I know of plenty of churches and religions that have done many of good things, as I know of plenty of non religious entities that do good things, and some that do deplorable things. The world is still the world and there are people all over that are assholes and murderes, be they religious, or science geniuses.

I do agree with you on the woman. She got screwed, she did nothing wrong in our views. Its quite lame for people just to say "its religion". I value human life above any religion.

When I say muslim law, I mean muslim government law. Not the religious "law" of their books. The governments of these "muslim" nations have taken the religion and made it a law of their own, of course, modyfying as they see fit. Hence they create laws that are completely pro man and very anti woman. That can be seen in any of the "muslim" nations. Just like the Bible has been perverted by governments through out the ages, the Quran has been as well. Thats what you get when you have a world run by humans.

Sorry to be so blunt about this point, but you dont need to wash you hands and open the good book to verify that Islamic-ruled nations treat their women as second class citizens. Its written all over those robes they have to wear so they dont expose any flesh in public. The fact that they cant walk around unescorted or speak to a man that she's not related to or married to, or even work a decent paying job. Look at women in western society. They contribute greatly to society just by being part of the work force (this in itself was only brought about post WWI). How about how much they value their right to fashion and beauty, you want to rob that of muslim women and then say they're not mistreated. I cant walk 2 blocks in the city without getting an errection that would dent a parked car with all these hoochy skanky girls in their skirts and tank-tops. And guess how many of them I've raped... Zero!! I dont need to, I can smooth talk to them and they're happy to chat knowing that I noticed the effort they put into looking so damn good! Its that simple. If the Quaran is the "single codification of ISLAMIC LAW, then the problem lies in the fact that this society is modelled after laws that were intended to improve lives 1500 yrs ago. The totally unreasonable sentences that women are given in these nations is pathetic example of how low ppl go to corrupt something that was intended for good use. Sorry to get so Off-Topic, but this religion and the way they treat their mothers, sisters and daughters pisses me off... The law of the land has to change because the way ppl use it is fuct up!!

You won't ever hear me contest that. 🙂 My meaning was just that I would dare to say Islam is just as neutral as most any other religion out there as written. nik is dead on; these are laws that will not change. If this happens in Iran, Iraq, or a host of other nations under strict Islamic law, the woman will get punished in some way. That's the sad truth, but you have to understand that a thousand years under certain rules will make even the most abominable laws seem normal to those people. Women in the US know they can have a baby anytime they want; women under Islamic law know that they simply cannot, and their livlihoods depend on it.

By the way, I'm Muslim, but I don't want to stone a woman. The most ignorant thing said in this thread was stated before I even read the first post. What other genius thread titles can we expect in the future: Christians want to kill abortion doctors; Jews control the wealth and media of the US; Catholics love molestation...

Besides us in the First World, most still are isolated and have little communication. Not that that is enough to make them or others automatically do what we know is the right thing. It took the Christian world a long time to realize that what they considered to be the right thing was actually wrong and not part of the religious texts they thought they followed inerrently.
