Basically, I've got a pair of Ballistix, 2 x 1GB, and although they haven't gone tits up yet, they apparently could, so I'd like to ebay them whilst they still work and replace them with one of those sets. Possibly. Unless there's a better option?

Obviously one set is £20 cheaper, but I haven't shopped around for them yet, just used OCUK as it had them both easily available.

I'll be overclocking a 4400+, using an Ultra-D.

Thanks for any help!

I don't know about the Mushkin sticks but the G.Skill ram will hit 270MHz pretty easily. Some guys have hit 285-290Mhz with them.

I would highly suggest that you check out the OCZ EL PC 4000 2GB Kit. I just replaced my 2GB Corsair XMS kit with the OCZ and I couldn't be happier. I am currently only running @ 250mhz 1:1 with my processor, but later tonite I plan to drop the multiplier and see where I can go. I have tested my processor and board up to 295Mhz HTT, so I'm hoping I can at least reach 265-270. The OCZ is nice considering you don't need much voltage. My auto configured itself @ DDR 500 3-4-3-8 @ 2.6V. One other thing to note is that I am running an Asus A8R-MVP Crossfire MB, which is one of the most pickiest MB's out there ram wise. If this board likes the ram this much, you shouldn't have any trouble with a good NF4 or X Fire MB. The ram is on sale @ Outpost for 189.99 with a $40 MIR. It is currently out of stock but the sales person I spoke with when I ordered mine said they expect a big shipment in the next day or so.

Not so true anymore..newer sticks are not hitting 270 easily..very few hitting 280-290

go look at a long thread at dfi street

Didn't know that. Are they still using the UCC chips?

Yes Samsung UCCC but it seems "newer" chips may not be as good OCers as before...mine do 260-265...270 seems like a absolute no go

Good to know. Thanks for the info. Any idea how well the 2x1GB Patriot LLK sticks are doing lately?

Sorry for the OT.

Thanks very much for all the info. If they're that similar, I'll probably go with whichever is cheapest when it comes to buying them. Heatspreaders on the Mushkins look kinda cool though, and they're blacker than the G.Skill :D. Probably not £20 cooler though.

No problem about the OT, I'm happy to have some more info to read. :)
