I half wonder if he wasn't put in the cell with him maybe intentionally ....

Maybe that was their effective solution.

Reading up, that has been mentioned I guess, but still.

Society should focus on finding the origins and cure for this disease and make it clear that those who have it should seek treatment prior to acting on such impulses to avoid time in jail.

The disease is in our genetic code. We have been hard coded for violence, it is part of who we are and what we do.

There is an old saying "only the strong survive." I think that is wrong.

The saying should be "only the strong and violent survive."

Yeah, that's why violent psychopaths like James Eagan Holmes rule the world while scrawny nerds like Bill Gates cower in fear. It's just a scientific fact.

A tear for him, or for us? A society still savage enough to thumbs up murder.
Do we not believe in our own laws?

Yeah, I agree. Say what you want about the molester's crimes, he was obviously in a poor mental state trying to justify his crimes. A troubled person shouldn't be silenced by murder. A tragic life ended in a tragic death. I do feel bad for the molester. The kind of life that leads to harming a child and then being strangled to death in a prison is truly horrible.

You're comparing a relatively short history of modernization. Before the industrialization of the world, the nations with the strongest armies and the willingness to utilized them ruled. The current forms of government and spread of information and technology might have changed how we operate in the past few hundred years, but for thousands before that, it was simply not the case.

You are honestly sympathizing with someone because they molested children?

Yeah, it's not like our ideas of democracy or republicanism came from the ancient Greeks or Romans or anything... I mean, yes, obviously you're going to have people in positions of power espousing the "might makes right" philosophy at times, even post-industrialization (Hitler ring a bell?), but to break down the entirety of the human experience to "only the strong and violent survive" is fucking idiotic and completely unsupported by thousands of years of evidence. TH is confusing real life with Game of Thrones.

Were that the case you would have been dead long ago. Your capacity to think rationally is extremely weak. You survive because other humans are mostly empathetic beings.

Could you have the decency to use your brain.

I feel sorry for you. You must live an absolutely miserable life that the only joy you have is going to an internet forum for the sole purpose of putting others down. You can't contribute anything intelligent, yet you still feel the need to tear others down.

I really do feel bad for you.

And, again, you're talking about a very small piece of the 200,000 or so years humans have been in existence. And, "strong" might not be the best word to describe "fittest". Intelligence has proven itself time and time again over brute strength.

I don't attribute the entire "human experience" to such, but it has greatly shaped our history. And, it certainly isn't going away.

While, I have no sympathy for someone who acts on such thoughts, I do sympathize for those plagued with unhealthy attraction to prepubescent boys or girls. They certainly did not choose to have such attractions. They did, however, choose to act on such; and for that, I shed no tears to those that get strangled in prison. They made the choice.

Start acting like a human and you'll be treated as one.

Our ability for violence ensured our ancestors were able to kill mammoths, mastodons, wolves, buffalo, wild horses,,, even each other to enable our survival.

There is a reason why we are here and other human species died off. I feel part of our survival over the past 100k+ years is due to our capacity for violence.

As for bill gates, before the domestication of livestock 10k years ago he would have probably been killed and ate by neighboring tribes.

I'm honestly curious: How would you handle things differently?

No trolling, no baiting, no tricks. I want to understand what you're saying.

Many prison systems put the molesters in special needs areas. The murder victim wouldn't shut up about the case even after being warned.

From what I've seen on some prison shows, is generally rapists and child molesters are thought of as scum even by prisoner standards. These guys have to get further isolated or they often are brutalized and murdered.

What's really there to stop the attacker in the OP? He's lost everything a man can lose, so why not kill some POS molester?

Not terribly saddened by this, but it's not tolerable either. Negligence on the prisons part

just a thought, could the family of the child molester sue the state for failing to protect him while under the supervision of the state?

Michigan is not a lawsuit friendly state. It wouldn't make it very far even if they tried.

I think it's pretty sad that we determined that this man's crimes, while horrible, weren't enough to justify execution at the hands of the state, but we have no problem about locking him away with other violent offenders who will do the job for us so we can wash our hands of the guilt inherently associated with deciding someone no longer has the right to continue existing. If we're going to execute child molesters (which I'm not entirely opposed to), let's have the balls to do it ourselves. If we decide to imprison someone, we should also make sure that they're getting the best treatment possible, and that means not leaving them to die at the hands of a cellmate. Because while it's "just a child molester" right now, having that be the environment where we stick all our prisoners pretty much guarantees that they will never reform, and that's ultimately doing a disservice to society as a whole.

We make light of them being abused, going so far as to wish it upon them and hope it happens. I'm sure you've heard someone comment "I hope he shares a cell with a Bubba that has a 12" dick" or something to the sort because rape is funny you know. Rape is also perfectly acceptable "side" punishment while serving the punishment given by the justice system if you ask most people.

Also torturing people and quite literally driving them insane through isolation is perfectly acceptable and it is in fact widely used, especially on people that already have mental illness. It's just easier to deal with them by throwing them in a tiny cage in complete isolation than providing any sort of actual medical help. Sure some poor guard has to listen to them scream and once a week or so they gotta hose the feces off the walls but still way cheaper than proper medication or even diagnosis.

That is what the local police said to me when a party of 12 police at a fast food chinese restaurant. They all turned their head with wide eyes.

I told them I am really Dexter Morgan in real life. Once I explained the logic of that statement then one of them said to me "We need more people like you."
The others agreed with their mouths full of shrimp and rice.

I just may be the very first serial killer who is famous but has never really killed in real life. #lol

You seriously need to find some professional help. I hope you have a care taker of some sort, because your delusions simply cannot be healthy.

I've always wanted to be in the private prison business. The thing I would do is make sure that no prisoner - no matter their crime or their length of sentence - would ever come in contact with another inmate while in the facility. Everyone would be in solitary confinement 24x7. If we're making $x per year for each inmate that we have warehoused, then we certainly don't want them disrupting our cash flow by injuring or killing one another.

What about Demolition Man style pods? I always liked that idea.

Harming children, awful as it is, gets some people's panties in far too much of a knot.

What's wrong with your panties rudeguy? Too tight?

Went with a thong today instead of french cut. Bad call. It was way too cold and half a cheek froze.

I know a guy from Cañon City Colorado, near Florence, where the Supermax Prison houses such celebrities as Ted Kaczynski and Zacarias Moussaoui. He helped build the facility and told me some stories. Apparently, they built the individual cells off-site and brought them in as modular pods. He was mostly responsible for preparing the site for the pods to be laid and one of the things they did was go over the ground with extremely sensitive metal detectors. Told me that he had to dig as deep as fifteen feet to find and dispose of things like old nails.

A tear for him or his family. The guy in prison did what our justice system should have once he was convicted. Molesting kids..come on now. No place for people like that in this world.
