I know the general consis here is the systems they build are overpriced and underperforming. I was on the site today and noticed they now also sell the cases by themselves. I like pretty much everything they've done to it. If I was to buy a TJ07 and have all the same mods done about how much would I be looking to spend? They're charing $850'ish which is obviously a lot. But there are a lot of mods done to it too. Months ago I had emailed a few places about modding a TJ07 for me, things I couldn't really do at home due to lack of tools and ability lol.
One guy quoted me $650, one told me to call them (I never did) the 3rd said they couldn't do everything I wanted themselves, but knew people they could send it to to finish what they couldn't for a price. That $$$ was never disclosed to me. But he basically make it sound like it wasn't going to be cheap. Now I'm not looking for the cheapest outlet to get this done. Quality's more important to me than anything. I've been saving $$$ for a new PC for awhile now, and I really am in love with the TJ07. I figure if I'm going to do it I'm going to do it right.

Customized features include: Stealth faceplate, choice of Clean or Serpentine backplate, Clean midplate, Pioneer optical drive (Powder Coated black), custom cut side panel window, cable management modifications, Serpentine Plexiglas topgrill, Powder Coated black interior, Psychopack sleeving kit, and many more "little details"

It might not be all that horrible deal once I add everything included up. Everyone else I've contact about doing this for me doesn't seem to want to give a real quote, and most can't handle it all in house. I kind of like this because I know exactly what it looks like so I'll know what to expect. But if I can find a place that will do everything in house for cheaper and can produce as good results I'll all ears :D

thumbs up on the powder coated optical drive, that's one of those maybe excessive but nice touches I'm looking for. I know the watercooling aspects of the Murderbox aren't stellar, but if I had the case I could assemble it with better components. I dunno I've just always been in love with how they modded the case.

*EDIT* I just did the math in my head again, for some reason I was thinking this mod was only about $300 over the vanilla case, I did the numbers again and it's $500. DOH lol, so obviously it's not a good deal, but realistically what would I be looking to spend elsewhere for the same level of craftsmanship.

:X

Haruhi made me cancel a dual gainestown build...

As for the murder mod, what mods did you want exactly on your TJ-07?

you know goink on our forums is close with mnpctech and they do awesome case mods also.

outside of food I spend almost no money on anything lol. I don't have a lot but I've been saving a little here and a little there for about a year. My current case is getting a little old, I transport it around and don't take good care of it, so I thought about getting a nice case for once. Shit this would more than likely be the only thing I buy all year.

aigomorla - basically everything, the powder coating inside is sweet, the inverted MB tray. Which uh, should lead to a cleaner looking W.C. setup. I like the front and back bezel replacements. The mid plate to hide/stealth the bottom chamber. The window looks nice, I like the fiberglass top piece. I like the custom holes on the motherboard tray to help with hiding the cables. linky to pic of MB tray with stealth holes. I even like the powder coated DVD Burner.

Basically if I could get a Murderbox clone without the actual Murderbox logo cut out of the front panel I would be perfect, there's nothing I don't like about it, and really can't think of anything I'd want added. The only problem is the little bit of $$$ I've saved up over the past year was supposed to be for me to get cracking on my W.C. setup, if I buy this case, I'm going to be broke again and still without W.C. lol even if I find another place to mod the case for me, something tells me it won't be all that much cheaper than just buying directly from Murderbox :(

I will have to contact MNPCTECH to see what kind of price they'd charge. Nothing on their site really jumps out at it, but I'm sure that's just due to my tastes and they could probably deliver just what I want. Then I can start saving up for the W.C. portion and maybe in another year have it actually all together :)

no point of getting the murderbox if youre not going to spend at least $1000 on PC hardware + another 300-400 on WCing hardware. Would you want your case to cost more than all your components??? i know i wouldn't.

it IS a nice case, just not worth $850. not $650 imo. i'd save that $450 and get myself a nice $400 case and learn to love it. And that love will save me $450 for something else (LIKE YOUR WC setup)

I plan to go pretty nice with everything when all is said and done. Maybe even i7 & SLI. I know it's a lot of money for a case, but for what you get maybe it's not ridiculously overpriced. I just got done chatting with a modder on IRC who said he could duplicate the Murderbox no problem for $700. But all he has was a few pictures of his work he sent me, and while it appears he has talent, it's not as nice though. I'd hate to commit and end up with something I don't like. I'm going for a case I can show off. I'm unable to do the case but I plan to spend a lot of time on the water setup and make the insides look as clean as possible. I already have some of the components and a color scheme laid out. I'm going to ask a few more shops for quotes but I might end up ordering directly from Murderbox, the quality is top notch and in the end it's only money right? lol

I eat so much damn Fast Food I bet if I cut 95% of it out in a few months I could have enough $$$ for a kick ass setup. I looked at all the stock cases and none of them do it for me. I fear I won't like any new PC I build without an over the top case :(

*SIIIGH* sometimes I hate that I'm so into stupid sh@t like how a case looks :)

I have to agree that the murderbox is fantastic. But that case is for people with spare cash to burn, not you I'm sorry.
Honestly I have to say that you should just save the money and get the TJ07, which murderbox is based off. Using that case as the base of your build. With this you don't have to starve and down the line if you still like murdermod, you can upgrade some of your present case with murdermod's case accessories. You can still make a kick-ass setup with the TJ07.

imo, if you can't even afford buying the murderbox + all your components + all your WC parts RIGHT NOT, you don't really have that that kind of money to blow on an expensive case.

Hey Que,

Have you looked at the new Silverstone Fortress FT01. I believe it is already black inside and out and built on the same tech as the TJ07 (heavy aluminum box frame bent on a chassis bender). A cool 500 clams cheaper than the Murderbox... I was mistaken as it's the Raven that is black inside but it's not all aluminum like the Fortress (the Raven is steel and plastic I believe). But the Fortress is smaller than the TJ07 - maybe cheaper to treat to a black inside coating.

What you looking to have done...
How much you looking to pay????

You can view the box I modded in my profile > Home Page..
I spent about 4-6 hours modding the window and painting the case..

I should have stripped paint or just better paint as it scratches easy now, but thats for next mod...

As for power coating you could just use flat or semi gloss paints for same effect.. Power Coating dosent scratch as easy is its plus but can be done off site...

I can tech you how to make tapped holes for cable straps, drill and tap would cost about $10 and you would need a drill...

Seems most of what MudderBox does is cable wrapping and clean piping..

A lot of cooling stores sell the tools and kits needed to do this...

If you would like some help learning how you can do this I'd be glade to help, I am a retired/disabled GPS makers as well I worked for a designer making models of lots of items on store shelves..

Too many tools and skills needed, the custom milled front and back panels alone would be well beyond my scope, even if I had the tools do to it. To put it bluntly I suck with tools lol. I could manage the innards but the case I dunno what I could do besides the components. I'm looking to pay whatever it costs. I know people here are saying too much money $$$. I save for whatever I want and buy it, I don't believe in credit and while expensive the case seems really nice to me. Some people put away $25 a week towards a vacation I save up for computer sh!t :D I can afford it in the sense I have the money saved up and buying it isn't going to result in me having my car repossessed or anything. Money won't even be tight as I've been stashing away cash for awhile now. As dumb as spending $800 on a case sounds it was either this or Vegas. And Vegas would result in my $800 being gone with probably nothing to show for it lol.

Your mod is nice I've seen it somewhere, I don't think on here. But I know I have somewhere, no mistaking as I doubt anyone else has calvin on their window pissing on a fan lol. Here's my thing, if I'm going to learn how to use tools to do real mods I'm sure as hell not going to start on a TJ07, and there's not really another case I'm interested in. So it's murderbox, somebody else or just say fugit and keep my Coolermaster Ammo another year.

3 of the places I've contacted this week who do modding have said they don't have all the tools needed to do the job for me. I have a nice Bosch driver, I could probably drill some holes for the cable straps with it but not much else lol. Maybe I'll buy the Murderbox and get the cheapest case Newegg has and attempt to start learning how to do shit myself, that's not a half bad idea man thanks for suggesting it.

You might have seen my first mod 5 years ago with a small Calvin..

You can ask MB to make you a Front Pannel with out there logo..

Use your old box as a start...

As for mods I guess I forgot I have 35+ years working metal and need to remember everything is easy when you know how :)

no doubt, my biggest mod to date was about humm 5 years ago I sleeved a PSU, this was before sleeving really caught on. I went to Harbor Freight and bought a crappy heat gun and some tools. It took me the better part of one afternoon to do it, but it looked pretty good when I was finished. Only thing I screwed up was somehow I botched either removing or putting the plastic molex connectors back on, and the pins wouldn't stay in very well I still have the PSU, aside from the loose molex pins it came out alright lol.

my next mod will be to W.C. a computer, aigomorla gave me a lot of good advice last year on this. Weather it's in a Murderbox case or just one I buy and don't mod too much I think that should be my next step from the PSU mod job. Maybe by 2011 I'll be ready to use a Dremel and some power tools to actually chop up a case ha.

Better than a Dermel I would buy the HF 1/4" Long Shaft Grinder (Super Dremel)

A Dremel really dosent have the power needed to mod a box..

The HF grinder would work much faster and better and you would buy the HF cutoff wheel and arbor and a few carbide Burr Balls in a Tree style which would work to smooth cutoff wheel burrs..
