Multitool recommendation besides another Leatherman?

I recently lost my Leatherman Wave. I've had 3 other Leatherman Waves in the past, but I'm not bent on getting another one.

The things I didn't like about the Waves were the high weight and the inside tools being impossible to take out with short nails - I would have to always take out some keys or a stick to pry out the tools.

I really need:

- knife, (straight blade for cutting veggies)
- pliers (makeshift wrench)
- scissors (cutting nails)
- can opener (opening food)
- removable screwdriver/flathead/allen/etc bits (random stuff)

Everything else is kind of optional. A wire crimper would be nice as well as a carabiner style hook to hang it from something.

I'm only familiar with Leatherman. Gerber seems to make a number of their tools with plastic bits, which I don't like. Not sure where else to look.

What the hell do you use that crap for? Do none of you own pliers, scissors or knives that you need it in one thing?

They don't fit in a compact package, and a tool in a toolbox is worthless if I'm not near my toolbox.

You sure do like to go around and question people's needs that don't align with your own. The last time this happened was in the truck thread a few months ago.

And yes I own those all, but they don't all fit in my pocket.

I have a Leatherman Skeletool and it's proven to be very durable and because of it's slim form factor I can carry it in my pocket without people asking about my bulge.

In high school a girl I was getting frisky with felt up my knife. I didn't have the heart to say anything :^D

Just the tip...😱

I also have a Leatherman Skeletool, and while it doesn't satisfy all of the OP's requirements, it is an awesome little gadget.

You should be able to justify a need for something without getting defensive about it...

I fail to see a use case of a pocket screwdriver set with a bottle opener and pliers; what exactly do you do that necessitates having that particular combination of tools in your pocket? Also do you carry it daily? Because if that isn't the case, your argument is void.

So you carry this on your wherever you go?

I carry a Swiss Champ, a Leatherman Micra, and some keychain sized pliers every day. If my pants are on, those three tools are with me. If I'm doing heavy work, I also have my Leatherman Classic on my belt. I also carry a fixed blade knife when traveling in unfamiliar/sketchy areas.

I'm not getting defensive, just pointing something out.

I carry a Leatherman Wave in my backpack, which I take to work everyday. I use it at least once a week for random stuff.

What exactly do you do? There's a very narrow set of use cases that would necessite this thing (offsite stuf for ??) and it still seems you'd be better off with a real tool set.

I usually use mine for opening packaging, cutting wire, or opening compartments so I can replace batteries.
