Some people such as I, have a small tool box in the trunk of my car at all time.

Right, kinda to my point: if you have a tool box, why not just carry proper of each? I've never seen a contractor carry a multitool thing, just each one of the tools.

So you carry this on your wherever you go?

Do you use all the functions of your phone daily?

No? Then throw that fucker away, right?

I have a mountain of freakin' tools. Usually have basic stuff in my car. I still find a multitool useful. I keep one in my laptop bag.

(and no, I don't take my laptop everywhere. OMG it's worthless, too)

Why would I carry my 25# toolbox for the off chance I might need something? Multitools are for emergency use. If you spend hours a day with pliers in your hand, you use regular pliers. A leatherman is when you unexpectedly need them.

My opinion of any man drops a couple points when he says he doesn't carry a knife, and doesn't know what he'd use one for. He might as well tell me he's a Scientologist, or a fan of pro wrestling. It shows lack of imagination, and general life skills.

Another vote for the SOG here. Had an S69 stainless, and when it was lost I had to get another although black oxide. Very affordable, and although I don't use it as much now that I live in a suburban hellhole it is nice to know I have it. I also am on my second SOG folding knife and use that much more frequently, always have it on me.

Sometimes it seems I have lived 2 different lives. In one I was using my multi-tool quite frequently, and now not so much. I stand by my decision to have a good blade on me at all times, but I definitely think a multi-tool is a stretch unless you are doing specific work or just want to play the part.

You're just trolling, or real dense (which I don't think you are, halik), if you truly don't get why someone would need a multi-tool. Seriously.

One thing I try to remember while visiting these forums is that some people have probably never developed a callous in their life, driven a stick shift, or touched a woman "intimately". These 3 tips will help you enjoy your ATOT experience that much more!

I carry a Paladin multi-tool which is made by SOG. It has most of the expected tools on it as well as a 1/4" driver with multiple bits and it has lots of parts designed for wiring work and punching LAN/Phone cables.

I also use a Kershaw Select Fire pocket knife at work almost everyday. It has a very nice built in screwdriver with several bits. It has held up well to daily use for the last 2 years.

What exactly do you do? There's a very narrow set of use cases that would necessite this thing (offsite stuf for ??) and it still seems you'd be better off with a real tool set.

great. give me a toolset that weighs a few onces that i can carry in my pants pocket.

oh wait..sog/gerber etc beat you to it.

leatherman skeletool
or sog powerduo
or MUT

oh i like the skeletool.

What the hell do you use that crap for? Do none of you own pliers, scissors or knives that you need it in one thing?

I own all of them. I also have a garage full of tools. I do not carry my garage with me. The Multi-tool comes in great when i am not home or out in a field.

You should be able to justify a need for something without getting defensive about it...

I fail to see a use case of a pocket screwdriver set with a bottle opener and pliers; what exactly do you do that necessitates having that particular combination of tools in your pocket? Also do you carry it daily? Because if that isn't the case, your argument is void.
I don't think you're new to the forum, and you're neither stupid or ignorant, so don't act like it.

In the OP case, it's entirely valid for him to want an all in one tool since he lives a minimalist life style. Don't forget he's living in his Honda Fit.

That's just one example, but the convenience if having a multi-tool available in your daily life is sometimes invaluable. Just ask McGuyver.
