What are some good multiplier games for kids ages 4 and 6. They can both play games like angry birds, put a first person game may be pushing it. To easy for them to get lost looking up, down and all around. Although I had considered Minecraft as they like building stuff. It doesn't really matter if it is co-op or against each other.

If you start them on FPS games now, they will be pro when they are older. I know from experience, having played FPS games since I was around 4. That's what happens when your dad works at Compaq in the mid 90's, I guess.

They might like something like Doom 2 co-op. The graphics are so bad that you can't even tell it's violent, and because there is no free look the controls are very easy. It's strange - at that age, at least for me, the fact that I was killing people with a gun didn't even register. I thought the pistol sprite in Doom 2 was a robot man with bolts for ears.

Uh... I remember playing with action figures at age 4, distinctly firing what I knew to be a small plastic gun. You didn't watch much TV as a kid did you?

Again, it's being a kid COMBINED with the fact that the graphics are bad. The Doom 2 pistol sprite really could be construed as a robot.

Theres actually a ton of Android software for kids now. Many of them are tablet-centric. Check Amazon, they got a lot. Many have freeware versions.

Any of the lego series of games (Lego Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman) would be a good choice. You can even play split screen co-op on the same computer I believe. And they are fairly easy with no real offensive content.

Thanks, the games would be for a PC. Lego games might work. Now if Steam will put them on sale.

Plenty of multiplayer goodness for kids at Big fish games.

This is in no way an advertisement and is only a genuine piece of advice.

Wizard101 is designed for preteens in mind. It is free to play the first 10 levels and you only get like a few areas to walk around in. It is a MMO and based on using cards as the the attacks so it is a fast action game but more of a turn base on the cards you play.

I did like it but my PC died few a years ago and never installed back on.

My son actually played this quite a bit back when he was around 8, and I did too, it was pretty fun. Though I just learned this year that he learned about sex from the game, lol. There are language filters so you can't use any bad words, and you can't even say numbers. But all the kids had workarounds for everything. Some girl asked him if he wanted to have "hex". Which was the code for sex. So then he googled it. and yeah...

Going outside is not always an option. Video games are fine in moderation. Not knowing the family's habits, you're in no position to judge.

Yes we are. Kids that age shouldn't be playing ANY games. The crap is addicting and messes with mental development. It's like giving a kid crack. There are much healthier ways to babysit kids than video games.

I've been playing games since I was 3, and I think I've turned out pretty well-balanced. Although I was largely limited to educational and old arcade-style (read: pacman, tetris) games until 6th grade.

OP: If you're considering minecraft, why not just buy them some actual lego sets to build?

I wouldn't go that far, but I think at that age they are better off with activities that improve their gross motor skills and provide better exercise.

Keep video games away from younger kids if possible. Games are designed to be highly addictive and kids have a tendency to get engrossed in their activities. Combine the two = kids will stay inside all day even if they don't have to. Their vision also isn't fully developed until well into their late teens and having them stare at a screen at a young age is a sure ticket to bad eye sight.
