WASHINGTON — Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel, will speak about the Russia investigation at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, his first public comments since he took over the inquiry two years ago, the Justice Department announced.

Mr. Mueller has been at the center of a fight between the Trump administration and House Democrats, who want to hear from him about his nearly two-year investigation into Russia’s election interference and possible coordination with the Trump campaign. The special counsel team concluded that there was no conspiracy on behalf of the Trump campaign to coordinate with Russia’s campaign of sabotage.

After Mr. Mueller’s more than 400-page report was released with redactions in April, House Democrats have sought the entire text and underlying evidence.

What will he say? It's crazy how radicalized Trump fanatics are that they've taken the demonstrable lies of Trump and his lackey Barr as gospel. If you read the report, it documents multiple contacts between his campaign and Russia, the campaign knowing about the hacks and upcoming email releases before they happened, talking to contacts they knew represented the Russian government/intelligence agencies for Clinton information. Which did not amount to criminal conspiracy, but is kosher I guess?

The criminality was in the multiple counts of obstruction of justice by Trump that Mueller couldn't indict on because of the opinion that the President is immune from prosecution while in office.

Will Mueller correct the record on Barr's and Trump's lies? Not that it will matter to the fanatics, they'll pivot to the new talking points attacking Mueller and continue to live in fantasy land.

My expectation level is set to nada. I hope to be wrong but I don't think I will be.

The DOJ is the one driving this. He will be cut off at the knees and told what he can say.

He'll say nothing that goes against what Barr has claimed, Fox News will claim this definitely puts to rest the Democrats claim of wrongdoing by Trump and it's time to move on with the witch-hunt (I mean investigation) of the evil treasonist traitors that started this investigation.

The scramble to ponder on what he's going to talk about an hour from now is so frantic it's almost like the media has discovered that an space alien from a galaxy far far away has landed and is going to address the world about it's intentions.

Hang on to yer lugnuts folks, the tension is palpable at the moment.

Will he join the LMSM in attacking Trump or will he speak the truth? Will he be flanked by his 16 (17?, 18? 19?) angry Democrats? Will he provide photos of Strzok and Page having sex in front of a burning Trump effigy or will he continue to cover it all up? Details at 11.

I find it unlikely that he's going to offer many (any) new revelations here. I suspect he will talk about how he wants to speak with Congress privately about these issues and not engage in public testimony that won't be productive because he feels that going further than that exceeds his responsibilities as Special Council as he sees it.

I'm sure Trump and Sean Hannity will claim vindication.

And apparently it was just announced that Barr will be interview by CBS tomorrow for a segment to air Friday morning for his first network interview, right on the heels of this. This is stinking like another way for the admin to muddy the waters. Put Mueller out incapable of saying anything specific then follow it up with Barr saying "See, told you so" in the absence of anything from Mueller that is specific.

Sure seems like vindication will be claimed. Congress needs to subpoena Mueller today regardless of the press briefing.

Wouldn't doubt that at all the way Barr has been handling the results of Mueller's investigation. From what the pundits have been positing, it seems there's not going to be anything significant enough to turn the tide one way or the other as far as Trump's culpability is concerned.

One can hope though that the natural course of discovery that's been weighing in favor of Trump's guilt will align with Mueller's statement.

Apparently there were a couple filings yesterday that pretty much closes out the loose ends of the investigation and the grand jury. This might just be Mueller saying "I'm all done, I'm going fishing".

Trump, with (as you mentioned) the assistance of Hannity and crew have the ability to turn anything negative about him into some sort of proof of innocence. Trump's got that down to a fine art where his ability to mix lies with facts and come up with something that's confusing and confounding enough to smother the truth about him is near perfection.

I mean, he's been doing it for his whole life so he's had a lot of practice to tweak it juuuussst right.

I was thinking it was more like Mueller is going to show pictures and videos of Trump dressed up in blackface, wearing KKK robes embossed with swastikas while doing shots of vodka with Putin while watching hookers pee on a bed of locked up Muslim immigrants captured at the southern border. Or was that Adam Schiff that had this evidence?

I'd be surprised if we really get anything major out of this. He's already made it clear that Trump/his family/his campaign/his administration attempted to obstruct the course of justice multiple times and attempted to work with a hostile foreign power for their own gain. What more could he say? The Republicans and their supporters are still going to put party before country and everything else anyway.

Best thing he could do is say it out loud. Trump supports never read the report, they swallowed whatever Trump/Fox/Hannity told them to think. I'd be happy if Mueller came out and publicly said out loud that yes, there is evidence of Trump obstructing justice.

I expect a zero-sum statement meaning when it's all said and done nothing useful will come from it. My concern is that he'll back the AG, any AG, due to chain of command. I hope I'm wrong but we had best not rely on Mueller/the report for correction of Trump's actions and behaviors especially as no questions will be allowed for clarification.

We have a President who was negotiating to try to get a hotel built in Russia while campaigning for President working mightily to keep that fact a secret from the American people with all kinds of connections to Russian Mafia businessmen, and who may have compromised who knows how many of our intelligence secrets. For the sake of preventing a potentially massive and who knows how reactionary response to the revelation of such facts by the people, would it not be, better if the people stay asleep. Think of our national pride. How would we maintain our pride in a country so completely outplayed by our biggest enemy.

Tear down that wall Mr. Gorbachev, and we will make your leaders billionaires.
