brake into a few homes and install Seti as a service

Now wait a minute... I'll put you down for 50 but you got to promise you are NOT going to brake (break) into any houses. Ha 😉

SetiQ tells me that in the last 14 days, I've averaged 15.1 WU/day.

I'd venture to say that that's a pretty stable estimate. I don't see any additions/losses forthcoming.

Hmmm.....when I was working at the store, I used to add service installs to certain systems (with permission, of course!).
Every so often, a few of these actually report back....some of these installs were made when 3.03 had just come out!!!
It's funny when all of a sudden some computer in Vancouver sends me a workunit. Furthest one of these systems has travelled is Croatia!

So....make that average 15.2 😀

My average since Jan 1 is inflated. I brought up another system during that time for my race against minendo. That system has since been taken down (the wife doesn't like computers on the dining table 🙁 ). Also, SETI interferes with The Sims, which my wife plays. She closes SETI before starting the game but sometimes (er, most of the time) "forgets" to restart it even though I put an icon on the desktop for her. So my average right now is about 8 to 12 per day.

That is really spreading around the globe Max. I wonder if I put How To instructions in a bottle.............aw, never mind. 😉

And Maggotry I got the slide rule out and came up with 10. 🙂

To be honest my average will be higher than the 8 that was listed. I just got a new rig at work and upgraded my daughters CPU. So please put me up to around 13.

My average since the first of the year = 168. Seems a bit high and I don't want to mislead anyone. I'll do my best, but no guarantee I can maintain that number. Other projects (my house) may take my time.

😱

Ok according to the numbers 186. (I don't know why it is that high). 😕

I liked the 177 but I don't think you guys are going to let me keep it. 😱

Apparently people think other people are low balling their numbers! (And I resemble that remark and take offense!) 😛

Now let me remind people what the purpose of these races is for!!

The purpose is for us to increase our production and crush the French!
And how do we do this? We RACE! 😀

To keep us racing at our most productive we need to have a close race that encourages us to make LOTS of WU!

In the past we have broken into teams and just went for the flat out crunch-athon!
This works when the teams are divided up very evenly. (Not easy to do)

One proposal to help balance the teams is the VolleyBall scoring. Each team tries to keep any other team from scoring
too many points and block by saving up a days to dump when the other teams think they have a chance.
(Might work, might not)

Still this requires that the teams be evenly balanced. (Remember: Not easy to do).

So to complicate matters how about this:

1) Each person estimates their maximum possible production for the race.
2) The teams are divided up based on this number. (Best interest to give a good estimate!).

3) Each day the total amout Crunched by a team is compaired against the team's estimate.
(ie if you go over it helps your teammates who didn't do so well). If the whole team goes over
they are limited to the Team Estimate.

4) Points are awarded by who is closest without going over. If all the teams go over, then the
point goes to the team with the highest score!

Ok it is starting to sound like a Nomic game.

The question is: How to make everyone estimate fairly and yet encourage over acheivement and keeping the scores
very very close?????????

ConfusedBW should be back tomorrow if not sooner. The way the reported averages are coming in, we will be lucky to hear from everybody by then. All of these ideas sound good. I believe there was a poll and more people seemed to opt for the race like you originally did them Eponymous. The last race (my big idea) was a real devil to keep up with. 🙁

So I take it Eponymous/Grant will be entered with 186. Or what? The averages are really screwed up lately with the bandwidth problem. I just looked and your 7 day average is 217. :Q You have the best insight as to your fair average as does everyone else. So let me have your best shot. 😉

I guess I'll go with Orange Kid's 14-Day Avg Results per day: 5.9 It may be a little high, but I think I can make it up. And it might be a little low; it's really hard to be sure of my average.

And I thought these races are here so we could have some fun crunching more workunits😉

Goodluck to all!🙂

Hey, have a good trip Is0s.

There are lots of good reasons to have these MTRs. Let's do 'em all. 🙂

I think the 186 is a bit high. But what the .... I will try to live upto it.

Oops wrong decimal point. I mean I do 7.7 WUs. 😀 😉

(Ok that is per hour and not day.) Geezzzzzz...... 😛

I WANT ElFenix and Soni to win!!!!

<< I WANT ElFenix and Soni to win!!!! >>

I second that Grant 😛

Set me up for 50, Smokeball 😀
Its a bit high but there have to be something to shoot for🙂

Even with the loss of two machines at work, I'm fairly certain that I can continue to maintain 40 WUs/day; if not, I'll just have to go "find" some more machines. 😉

I'm at 28 a day but will be adding an 1800xp sometime during the race, rma'ing a dead Epox 8k7a.

I need a change in my average, I got my dad to run a few more machines 24/7! 😀 You can change me from 13 to 15-16. 🙂

smokeball, I think I am gonna have to go with the 7 day average on your page...
24/day
I went from about 10-11 workunits a day and added some dual PIII's for my race with teriba and jerboy....my daily totals have been hectic, ranging from 19 to 35...because the machines are hosted at a place that has a really crappy connection....so... anyways I think the only average I can use is a 7 day, I dont think I've had the assimilations for 14 days yet, definately havent had them since january 1st

I hate to lose indy from the race Maybe the handicap would be the way to go for him. I don't care if you only count 10 a day from him i would still love to have him as a teammate.

ConfusedBW had averaged my production @~39 daily when the original set-up was done. This was based on averages from the last four weeks I think.
We have to go with history I suppose. 🙂
