Has anyone had to return a MSI vid card to MSI directly? Newegg won't take it b/c the s/n sticker came off, and doesn't sit perfectly on the pins (where it was).
My 4850 died, so I need to RMA/replace it. There are two potential problems with RMA...
1) the s/n sticker was on pins (instead of a "real" surface), fell off, and isn't in perfect shape anymore.. looks curled up a bit, almost wrinkled.
2) there is some discoloration on the solder of a few capacitors near where the PCIe power connecter is.
Has anyone been able to return a card to MSI with a damaged or non-existent s/n sticker? Does MSI look for excuses to claim "damage", like what appears to be toasted capacitors? (no, wasn't overclocking, hadn't even gotten the drivers installed yet)
I'd hate to ship this out just to find out that they won't do anything for me, and I'm out shipping costs on top of the card cost.
any input appreciated, especially comments other than "you're screwed, buy another".
