Well, I have sent it in, and now I am posting with a computer that I borrowed from work.
The clock has started, it will get there by Friday.

I'll report back when they ship the card back.

It came today, so turn around time was about 11 days.

I guess I'll update this thread on what is going on...
Well, that card lasted about 2 weeks before getting crashes.
Ship it back to them and get another card back (~2 weeks total time), and... it freaking has the exact same issues.
Which means, I get to ship it back yet again.

At least they are picking up the shipping, or at least that is what they said on Friday. We will see what they end up doing.

I think they have a stockpile of cards, that they use for RMAs, that are mostly all defective, and nobody wants to go through the stock and actually test which ones actually work. Either that, or there validation tests are pretty crappy.

Oh, and in case you guys are wondering, these cards have been tested on multiple system with different architectures and they all exhibit the same issues no matter the system or OS.

I had to RMA my GTX 570 a couple weeks back.

They replied to my email promptly enough, & i shipped it out Monday & had received my replacement by Friday.

More than reasonable service in my experience especially with where i live.

When you guys buy a video card, does customer service factor in ?
[rant]

u havent seen people take shots at me because i praise evga a bit too much on customer service? ():)

the best cs comes from evga if ur stateside and if its video cards period.

Don't see the big deal about EVGA. Lifetime warranty isn't very useful for most of us. And if your card needs an RMA and they do it fast, well that's great but did you forget that card needed to be RMA'ed in the first place? Not exactly what I'd call good. Seems like their super overclocked cards often get RMA'ed due to inadequate components and/or cooling since they stick to reference designs and don't test the cards well enough for long term stability.

try out there 20 dollar premium RMA service.

no joke..

Cross shipping is standard + prepaid ups label for return + 24 hour RMA approval.

means the moment u talk to someone, and they start an RMA, 24 hours later u get a nice email from ups saying your item has shipped.

MSI is pretty meh, though they make pretty good stuff at affordable prices. Its really a trade off. You can either have expensive products and good CS (EVGA), or meh CS and cheaper products (MSI, Gigabyte, Sapphire, eh, yeah, just about everyone else).

MSI has a decent phone support line - though they don't understand anything other than "my card is broke".

The only brand I really stay away from is ECS. Marginally cheaper products with 0 CS.

I had to RMA an MSI 3650 last year. I emailed them the symptoms and tests I did, a day later they replied back and had me try a few more things. When that failed they sent me an RMA number. That took 3 days. I then sent in the card and about 2 weeks later I got my replacement. All-in-all it was actually relatively painless.

For us (enthusiasts) we often do not keep our video cards for a long time (<2-3 years), but others do keep these longer. When I do builds for friends/family the warranty is definitely important to me. As much as I try to explain good electronics care to others, that doesn't mean they will not keep their case in a cramped desk enclosure, for example. Also, sometimes I end-up 'recycling' my equipment to others when I am done with it. My older video card may be more useful to someone else who has an even older one, and may not be worth-it to sell it off.

I like to buy XFX-branded GPUs because I know I can fully-transfer the card either by giving it away or selling it to a third party and the warranty is still valid.

One last item is with RAM. Warranty on RAM is extremely useful because it often can be difficult to find the exact DIMM/pair/set you originally bought, if it fails more than a year after purchase. I like to stick with one brand and often the company is more than willing to match your other set, if the current set is not available. This is really nice if you are running 4 or 6 DIMMs in your system.
