Before..
I had an K8N Neo2 Platinum Edition which was a very fine board IMHO
3500+ winny 1GB OCZ PC4400 memory, 6600GT Hitachi 250GB RAID 0 all was well..
10 X 266, 4X HTT, 1.6V volts Stable as far as i can tell from gaming for hours.
Antec Sonata Case, Coolermaster hyperx heastsink, 2 X 120mm panaflow fans at 7 votlts.
Fairly quiet, cept for graphics card and northbrige fan. (fact that you can hear those is
preety quiet)
SLOT 1 & 2 for memory SATA 3+4 used memory 1.85 volts.
Then i came in to some cash! and sold it to a friend! but stuck
a 3000+ in in and some cheapter kingston memory PC4000+.
After
MSI K8N Neo4 nforce 4 Ultra platinum (like the nf3 board so why not?)
X850 XT PCI-E or PCX (PCX is what nvidia call it)
same 3500+ winny, same memory, different hard disks
Another Sonata case with default P.S.U which is really good.
So i gave it the same settings 10 X 266, 4X HTT, 1.6V, boots but wont boot into windows,
reboots, windows was a re-install btw.
So i dropped memory to 166 divider and tried again, same deal.
Tried my trusty voodoo 3 card again no luck.
So i dropped speed down, and found i could boot at well not very much above stock.
10 X 239, which i thought hang on here this is poor.
So i tried a 3X HTT, wound not boot, often hung at windows loading screen, this board
didn't like 3X.
So i tired 11 X 239, booted fine and seems to be stable 4X HTT, going higher caused my soundcard (SB LIVE 128) driver not to be loaded and casued errors when accessing cd's and copying files. SOUND LIKE THE PCI BUS IS NOT BEING LOCKED!
THEN I RAN NVMONITOR AND DISCOVERED THAT PCX was running at 2500 at
11X 239 and higher pushed it above 2500.
Sounds like it ramping the PCX bus in line with the CPU.
seems to be at 239/240fsb the PCX lock fails or else it didnt work to begin with and that dropping HTT speed does not drop the PCX speed down.
I am missing a setting somewhere that switches the lock on? or should i just wait for a bios update.
If i owned a whinny 3000+ the overclock would be pathetic at 9 X 239. Only my high multiplier 11x kept it ok.
