So this is my first post here...just joined tonight. I'll try to make this informative for those who have similar setups...

My rig is in the sig...running a Scythe Ninja cooler with 120mm fan.
Idle temps: 44C
Load temps: 59C
Temps taken using CoreTemp

A few bios settings: I am using beta bios 715
VCore: 1.4V (this is what's selected in bios, but under h/w monitor page in bios it shows something like 1.38v)

Vdimm: 1.9V (I know this ram is rated at 2.1v; However, for some reason on this board, it doesn't like that voltage. I found I was able to up the FSB higher and my system is more stable with 1.9V...Don't ask me why) Needless to say, if you have this ram and are having problems getting over 400fsb, try lowering the voltage to like 1.9

RAM ratio: 1:1, Timings: By SPD

VMch: 1.55v

I seem to have hit a wall at 420fsb...if I up the vdimm, I can get up to 429, however it's nowhere near as stable as 420, so I'll stick there for now. I'm thinking about trying some new RAM...Patriot or Gskill and seeing if the ram is the problem because I think this board can go much higher...We'll see and I'll let you all know when I do test that.

Also tried upping Vcore all the way to 1.48 and vmch to 1.65 in small steps...Doesn't do any good at getting me past 429.

Here is a link to a screenshot at 420...I know 1hr of prime doesn't mean my system is 100% stable. I will take another SS in the morning after letting it run all night, but I'm off to bed and wanted to get this posted tonight. So here's the SS:

6300 + MSI 975X 2.1 + OCZ 2GB 800MHz Overclock

If someone could also do me a favor and post this in Xtreme forums under their MSI 975X thread, I'd greatly appreciate it...For some reason, no matter how many times I sign up or what email addresses I use, I am not receiving the activation link so that I can post this over there.

Hope this post was helpful to somebody and I'm glad to be a part of Anandtech forums now!

I very much doubt he will clock the E6300 higher with different RAM. It looks to be FSB limited (motherboard).
Regardless it's an awesome overclock. There is no faster CPU (at stock speed, that is ;)) on the market.

Yea, pairing an E6300 with a 975X chipset wasn't the best idea for good overclocking :(

Yea, I know the 965 is better for the 6300 and 6400s when it comes to overclocking, but I needed Crossfire, so that pretty much left me with the 975 and after tweaking a bit more, I have it at 2950MHz...I'm happy with a 1.1GHz OC...All I know is this thing flies and I'm loving every minute of it =)

Do you have any issues with your rig not rebooting when you tell it to? Mine will boot from the bios fine when I up the fsb over 400MHz but when I try to reboot, or sometimes with a cold boot, the computer hangs. I can hit the reset button a few times and the mobo will reset itself back to the the stock 266MHz fsb with everything else the same. The system is completely stable at 440x8 but I can't get the thing to reboot correctly.

What's your vcore and vmch set at? I found once I upped my vcore to a certain point, I no longer had those issues...somewhere around 1.45v

Edit: Also, a new beta bios is out (716)...just waiting for someone to host it at Xtremesystems. The guy who has it says it shows some promise so we'll see if the booting issues are fixed and if we can maybe go higher with the FSB =)

I've got vcore at 1.46V for 440x8. MCH is at 1.6V.

Hopefully the new 716 bios will solve some issues.
