MSI 815E PRO - Where Did It Go ?????????

Im having the same problems,

I upgraded everything, short of my HDD, which will be replaced tomarrow.
Got a p3 700cb0, MSI 815ePRO, 128mb mushkin rev2, geforce 256 SRD.
Maxtor 10.1gb 7200rpm. Antec sx1030 300xps +6fans.
This thing should cook.
But, I pull the sw1 pins to make it 133 fsb default and it chokes.
The LEDs say FDC failure.
This is after I flashed the bios, booted up with nothing on the board, set the voltage to 1.8v, shutdown and pulled the jumpers.
Think my days with the MSI are almost over.
I just want a board that works

Maxse Every bios will recomemnd that you run the ram at cas 3 settings, its just a default message so just ignore it. Your power shutdown problems could be anything from having the settings in the bios set wrong to the power managment settings in windows. Turn off all power manangment in windows for all devices. Make sure acpi is enabled in the bios and make sure wake on lan is dissabled. Having the power switch connecor, connected in reverse on the mainboard will also cause it not to shut down. Take your time and make sure the power switch, speaker, hd led, and reset are on the proper pins in the correct polarity. The manual and the mainboard doesnt list the polarity for the power and reset but it does make a difference. I ran into the same problem because I had the reset switch connected backwards.
Sammyson If you are so eager to get this work to work, why dont you try dissabling the floppy controller in the bios since it seems to be your stumbling block. Personally I think your just wasting your time trying to get a bad board to work. Get another one and settle up with Compuwiz later when he is up and running from his move to Ca.
Snuggy I have complete faith in MSi to correct these issues in the bios. I dont see any growth for this chipset like the bx since the P4 and ddr boards are just a couple of paychecks away right now.

I began to get greedy after that, so I raised the voltage to 1.85 volts and a bus speed of 155MHz. After setting that, the system wouldn't post at all, but the odd thing was that it would boot up fine with a voltage of 1.8 volts. Well, it turns out that MSI doesn't allow for a voltage over 10% with this board. If it detects a voltage over 10% of the default core voltage, it refuses to initialize the CPU. On a plus side though, the CPU was stable at 1008MHz with 1.8 volts. This was with a stick of 128MB EMS HSDRAM at 155MHz with timings at 3-2-2. I was very impressed to see this board run so stable at such a high overclock

Ive disabled the Floppy controller.
Think im going to go with a new board for now.
Now i have to decide if i go with another MSI or i go with the CUSL2 or a trusty BX, asus CUBX.

CUBX???? Are you sure, many of my customer having problem with this board, P3BF a lot better, but for sure MSI BX Master is the best.

RainCity, not all the BIOS recommend to run CAS 3, it's depend when the BIOS read the SPD on RAM, have you ever get the message "suggested CAS 2" ???

Hello guys and gals. I'm back after a long time waiting for my RMA replacement board. This new board I got is great. It runs bios ver 1.1 and rock solid at 980MHz air cool OC from a P3 700. So far, I got 6 boards total and 2 of them are bad. The SW1 jumper is also works a bit different this time. No jumper at bus higher than 133. I'm also running budget PC133 from muskin at 140MHz the ram voltage is set at 3.4V. I can't OC any higher even when I set RAM speed at 100. I guess the limit is the CPU. It would boot window at 1001MHz but fail Prime95 and 3Dmark test. Wonder what you all are up to with your board.
Adamslaw are u getting a replacement for your bad board?

Hi overdoze. Not yet. I'm doing some swapping around with my audio gear so that's where any spare cash is going right now. I'm still watching and waiting for a motherboard to play with (with apologies to the Moody Blues). All of my research has led me right back to where I started: Asus or MSI. Meanwhile, 784 is not bad with my trusty 'ol Abit BH6, but I'd love to see what my cb0 700 could do and I'm wasting my Mushkin Rev. 2's. Heavy sigh . . .

Hi all,
i have a msi 815e pro too, and i also can't get it to work...my friend was messing with it and he hacked my cel 2 566 so my default setting is now 1.65V...he tried to use the SW1 jumpers to get fsb's but it didn't work and the board wouldn't boot on anything but auto...also, has anyone gotten fuzzy logic to work on this board??? i tried both versions 2 and 3 although this 815e should only use ver 2...funny thing, fuzzy logic 2 doesn't have the interface at all, but fuzzy 3 actually works until you try to clock it... then it dies and reboots the computer...wish i could add useful info to this thread, but i guess i'm asking for help too!!! how do we get this board to work the way all the tech sites are saying it can???

Hey Everyone,

I've posted problems with my PIII700@933 here and at the overclocking forum and this is GREAT news. This board may be really particular about the memory that it likes.

I'd like to PREMATURELY report that I got through an entire Quake session...something that I couldn't do before. This makes me really optimistic. I could only get into Quake for about 1 minute before crashing and I just got done playing for 10 minutes and no hangs at all.

I'm guessing that the i815e chipset and this board don't like the high density memory. I've got to figure out what to do with my Pc-133 Kingmax.

AGAIN, this is premature because I haven't done any significant testing but this is a step in the right direction...

There are some ram issues with bios 1.0 that were fixed in bios revision 1.1, you may want to give bios revision 1.3 a try since 1.1 and 1.2 created more issues than the fix and 1.3 seems pretty good to me and nobody has reported any issues with it.

I'd just like to add that I LOVE MY MSI 815E Pro!!!

I did have some problems initially with it but it was nothing compared to the nightmare I went through with the Asus Cusl2.
If the Asus works for you great but I gotta represent my MSI. Definitely recommend this board to anyone, period.

Hey Raincity,
I am currently running bios version 1.3 and that is where I have the problems. I can comfortably say that the issue WAS the memory. I've been running all day without problems. Great board but just watch the memory selection or you could be in for IT.
