Hmm, direct from their distributor in my country, Indonesia if you know this country. Actually I work for IT company here so I could get anything I want at the distributor price 🙂
Also I could try many hardware if we have in stock. The price for MSI is one of the cheapest compare to Elsa, Herciles, Leadtek, even with Innovision or Power Color and best of all is the fastes MX around, check the gamers depot review.
And my new mobo really surprise me, because usually Abit mobo not quite stable in my opinion now I have to agree with Anand about their latest mobo became rock stable, just like BX133, KT7 including this one VH6.
And FYI this mobo won award for 694 round up in Indonesia Hardware mag called CHIP, subsidiary of CHIP Germany in the top of Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and many more. But their slot 1 version still sucks!!!

Cadbad, glad to see you again. I see your using the Ibm 75 gxp also. Are you running Win2k also. I need some Hd tach scores in win98 and win2k to make sure if they are running right. Win2k reports them running in pio mode and the hdtach scores really suck in win2k with 12.5 read times. The Intel ata100 driver utility also claims the drives are setat default to udma5 and are currently running at udma2 on a 40 pin cable. I am using a ata66 80wire cable. Im not sure if this is a reporting error but I have concern since my hdtack scores in win2k are really slow. I also ran the Ibm utility to make sure the drives where set to udma 5. Anybody else ran into this or have any insight where I might have went wrong setting up the drives.I would appreciate some hdtach scores from anybody running these Ibm 75 with either win98 or win2k. Hi guys, I'm still with you. Thanks for restarting the thread. Just for an update, Onvia, as promised, did have UPS pick up my MSI 815E Pro board, so kudos to Onvia. But I'm still in limbo, contemplating which 815E to go with. I've added Abit as a possibility, along with MSI, AOpen, and Asus. In the meantime, I'm still doing fine with my Abit BH6, albeit at only 784 (868 if I don't network).

Adamslaw I would not mess with the Abit anymore untill they get their quality control back again. The Asus cul2 and Msi 6337 are really the only way to go with using 815e chipset. The Aopen board is not a stable overclocking board. Give the replacemant board a try and if you still have the same issues then maybe its time to give the Asus cul2 a try. Yes Onvia is the best to deal with on rma and returns. I bet there is a 100 Anand forum members that will vounce for Onvia excellent customer service. I wish you good luck with what ever mainboard you decide to go with.

With more new 815E boards out now, might be time to research some more - I would definitely check out the quirks some people seem to have had with the MSI PRO bios revisions. I have stayed with the original bios and continue to cruise along very stable and comfortable - Win ME has been kind to me so far except for a small penalty is some benchmarks, but I haven't done any tweaking. I have not had any problems with the MSI except during setup and those problems were definitely of my making. Still wish I could afford a really sweet card - am selling bits and pieces in "For Sale" to scrape together a few more $$.
Stick around guys - we're all busy, but check in every once in a while !!

Listen to Rain, he provides good feedback. I have also had good experiences with Onvia - Hitachi monitor, PIII-700, and other misc. stuff - they treat you right. Ordered the Epson 860 printer from Onvia yesterday (good price w/rebate) since my Panasonic 6100 died Friday.

I did the same thing - beat the paths researching the Asus and the MSI. I chose the MSI because of all the MANY posts I read regarding problems with the Asus board. If you read enough posts at enough different website forums, you are bound to get a feel for how the boards are performing lately - especially with regard to the peripherals you will be using. It appears that a lot of the Asus horror stories have toned down quite a bit and Asus does have a reputation for regular updates, etc. Either board should probably make you happy. Try reading some of the test reports again - you might want to try this:

More MSI Info .....
Below is a list of problems and things that I found out about the MSI-6337 board. I've talked to their tech support in CA and their manager is taking this info to Taiwan (at least this is what they told me) and hopefully they'll address some of these issues.
MSI - 6337 Trouble Sheet
I realize that MSI doesn't recommend overclocking but I also believe that all manufacturers realize this is commonly done and that is why they provide this option. I am not writing this expecting MSI to approve of my overclocking but to help them identify their problems and improve upon the current design. I'm using the 6337 board with the 1.2 bios revision.
First I'd like to say that the voltage setting in the bios does not correspond to the voltage read by the PC Health menu. It is off by 0.05 volts. If I set the voltage to 1.65 Volts and reboot and then go into the PC Health menu in the bios I'll find that the Vcore is reading 1.60 Volts. This is always the case. The voltage is always less by 0.05 volts.
Another thing that I'd like to mention is that if I hit F10 to save the bios and reboot then the voltage changes aren't made but if I choose to use the "save to bios and exit" option then the changes are made. This seems to be another bug.
I am trying to run a 566 Mhz Celeron at 850 Mhz. I have been successful at doing so on the MSI-BX Master without any problems. I have problems doing that on the MS-6337 board.
Overclocking on the BX-Master board requires 1.65 Volts (the default is 1.5Volts).
I should be able to increase the core voltage on the 6337 when SW1 is set to Auto to 1.65Volts. I would then expect to move the jumpers on SW1 so that it is on the 66.6->100 setting and the system should boot at 100Mhz. This is not the case. The system freezes and will not boot. I thought that this was a voltage problem so I went into the bios and increased the voltage but increasing the voltage beyond 1.65 volts causes the system to freeze also. To verify this I set SW1 to Auto and then increased the voltage to 1.70V and again the system freezes. This processor can easily handle 1.70 volts so I know that it isn't the processor and I also verified this.
I was successful in overclocking by taking the following extreme measures. The CPU has 4 CPU ID pins and depending on whether or not certain pins are high or low it tells the motherboard what the default voltage should be. I realize that you must already know this. The way to increase the motherboard's default voltage would be to make certain pins high while leaving the rest low. For this particular processor it is easy to increase the default from 1.5 to 1.65 by wiring 2 of the 4 pins to one of the others. The CPU ID pins are either high or they aren't connected to anything so it is o.k. to make one high by wiring it to another pin that is high. This tricks the motherboard to think that the CPU's default voltage is 1.65 instead of 1.5. This is becoming a common practice and details can be found at Intel's website and other overclocking websites. I did this on the processor and inserted it into the 6337 and set the jumper to 66->100 and guess what, THE SYSTEM BOOTED AND RAN FINE. I was also able to increase the voltage above 1.75 volts whereas I couldn't do this before.
My question is,
Why do these settings work when perform hardwiring on the CPU but not through the BIOS? It seems that the bios isn't bug-free. I can set the voltage over 1.75 when I hardwire but not through the BIOS. The board won't boot when set to 1.75 without hardwiring the CPU. I also can't get the board to run at 100Mhz FSB unless I wire the CPU. I know that it isn't the processor as I've been able to do this on several systems. I truly believe that there are bugs in the bios and that it needs to be cleaned up.

Nice Post Nino, Those issues have come to our attention already from other forum members that ran into those issue's that you stated. Msi is aware of those issue's when I contacted them couple weeks ago and said that they where working on another bios revision to fix the winbond calibration error and the vcore adjustment problem. Bios 1.0 seems the most stable of the three. You will just have to hang in there untill Msi gets the bios right but it seems the revisions create more issues than they fix.

Does anybody know which PCI slots share IRQs with each other or other components on the 815E Pro?
Buttermaker I still can not figure out the irq allotment after a few installs using the Award plug and play set on auto. I have had no irq or dma conflicts after any win install on this board but the irq allotment is always different after each win install. here is my cuurent pci card place ment with irq allotment and I will let you figure out the sharing pci to onboard devices. Actually, I'm one of those people that can only get version 1.2 to work properly. I can't change voltages with version 1.0. 1.2 is the best for me and it still needs a lot of debugging.
How long can it possibly take to fix glaring errors like this? I can understand monkeying around with stability issues and the like but not when things are this goofed up. Don't get me wrong, I like the board but it stinks when the board can't run like it is supposed to due to the bios. They tweaked the hell out of the BX platform. I wonder if some of that technology can be applied to the i815e chipset. Sorry for the whining, I'm just getting impatient because I want to o/c like hell. 🙂

I ran into a strange problem no one has encountered (I think). Has anyone encountered problem w/ shutdown? When I do a shutdown command w/i the windows, the windows suts down, but not the power for the system... In the midst of frustration, I swapped out the board & currently running my old Tbird in there now... But I think I've calm down to give it another go... Btw, I've checked & rechecked the power switch connector, so that's ok & I tried 2 different psu's also (300w & 400w).
Secondly, when I stuck in another stick of memory, post screen says the reccommneded cas setting is "3" instead of 2. I'm running Mushkin Hi Perf. sticks in there. Is it because of limitations of 815E? I am extremely close to jumping off to the Asus side... The CUSL is not perfect either, but at least they seem to release bios more frequently than MSI... Again, any input's greatly appreciated. Thanks.

BIOS read the SPD on RAM, some mobo not read the SPD correctly, if you sure your RAM is CAS 2 just disabled auto detect on BIOS, cos it's work fine for me when I used 815E Pro.
