What? I don't get this comment. If the game is coming out on the PS3 and the X360--why would this piss you off so much?

If the game is going to be on multiple systems, the chances of its success are increased. Wouldn't this be something you would want as a fan of the series?

I believe the loyalty was to Sony, not Square, hence the anger.

This is why you don't "pick a side" based on future rewards.

Yep. This is Devil May Cry 4 all over again. I'm sure an online petition to keep FFXIII only on the PS3 will be started soon.

Brand Loyalty. Not quite fanboyish, but pissed off that SE kicked Sony in the balls with one of the biggest PS3 games that was announced. FFXI I can understand, its an MMO, and not overly big. But FFXIII was THE game for PS3, and now, its like there's a void.

I'm surprised this isn't being talked about more:

* Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

That's just sweet IMHO. Much better than the PS3 way of doing things because the PS3 install isn't the full game....just parts of the game to help with loading times.

Disk space is obviously a concern for all the 20GB owners. As well as how long it will take to copy all this info over.

I imagine this is their "solution" to the noise/disc-scratching problems.

I don't have either of those problems so I'm not incredibly interested in this, especially since I've been at a consistent ~4GB free since owning the console. It definitely makes the Elite version more practical now, though not by much.

Yeah, I really want to pick up the 120gb hard drive now. I've been sitting on 7gb for a while, but every time I d/l a demo, I feel the belt tightening.

I am interested in trying this out but its usefulness will obviously depend on whether or not there's a noticeable difference in load times, as well as the amount of time required to copy. For larger games that offer a lot of playtime, this could be useful.

At least the Elite owners now have a reason to have so much space (if they're not hoarding videos and demos). :)

honestly this FF13 news is really not going to have that big an impact IMO in the long run at all. sure for now it's fun to get the fanboys up in a whirl, but if you really think about it, it is not going to make much of a dent at all.

FF games sell the most in Japan. over there most people already have a PS3 if they want to game, and because a game will now be on 360, while also being on the PS3, it is not going to entice many japanese gamers to go buy a PS3. i mean look at how blue dragon and lost oddesy did over there? they did not do NEARLY as well as one would have hoped. the japanes market will still just get it on the PS3.

also those who had or were getting a PS3 for FF13, they still can do that and still play FF13 on there.

i dunno it may be that since i'm not an RPG fan, but when I think about this logically it just really does not seem like that big of a deal other than getting the fanboys up in a whirl.

Haha, sorry, that's just ridiculously silly thinking. Are you going to sign the petition saying you'll never buy another Square-Enix game again?

Holy crap though. This is a huge day for the 360. And here I was thinking other than Gears 2 I wasn't interested in the 360 anymore. The hard drive installs alone is enough to win me back, no more jet engine DVD drives. If only they would have announced they were dropping the HDD protection so you could install your own (granted I don't see why they would since now you have even more reason to buy the larger drive). Definitely like the Netflix thing as well.

No.. Those are stupid.. I'm just pissed. I'm not going to go picket in front of SE HQ.

So is the netflix going to be streaming only? If so that would suck, since streaming video is gross looking

It sounds like it is still going to be a long wait for North America and Europe. In their press conference today, Square Enix said they are concentrating on getting the PS3 Japanese version done first. After they do that, they will concentrate on localization and porting to the 360.

The good thing is, I think, it sounds like they are developing it on the PC and then porting that to the PS3 and then later to the 360. So, it should be an easy port. Localization is probably a b!tch though.

It'll be the same as the current Netflix VOD. You get a Netflix membership and you also have the option of streaming from a library of TV shows and movies.

Soon? It was started BEFORE you typed this if a random comment on another board I frequent is anything to go by (I can't be bothered to visit a worthless site like PetitionOnline).

I don't know if I misunderstood the live blog but I think they said FF13 isn't coming out for the 360 in Japan so yeah you're right it won't make much of a difference there. It might make a small difference here for people who were planning to buy a PS3 for that game but already have a 360.

Pics of the new interface from Engadget - Like I said, looks very similar to the upcoming Media Center Interface for Vista.

I hope this means MS is finally going to start standardizing their interfaces between windows, the 360, zune, and even windows mobile. They've slowly started some of it with the Zune and 360 but I'd love to see them go even further with it.

It definitely IS gross looking if you have a crap <1.5Mbps connection. I've got a 10Mbps connection and it looks great. As good as DVD? No. But pretty dang good. I'm REALLY excited about this announcement! :)

That's the highlight for me. To copy-paste myself from the other E3 thread:

I'll probably end up with a PSWii60DSPSP combo platter so the FF XIII news doesn't really matter to me, but it's good news for FF fans who only have a 360 (and a PS2 I assume :) ).

The highlight for me is full-disc caching of 360 games to the HD:
- It solves the jet engine noise if you lose the DVD-ROM lottery and get a bad one.
- It might solve the $99 cost of repairing the DVD-ROM after year 1, since it will be idle instead of spinning all the time.

A Jasper 60 GB with run-from-HD: cool, quiet & reliable.

Too bad the 60 GB anouncement didn't mention anything about built-in wifi, so that's still $50-100 depending on what hardware you use :(

Holy sh!t, Rock Band 2 has Pearl Jam's Alive! GREAT track list! I'll get it as soon as it comes out. And I don't do that for very many games.

The hard drive install thing was a surprise to me.

It strikes me as bizarre that they're developing FF13 on PC, porting it to the PS3, and then porting it to the 360. Theoretically, going from the PC to the 360 should be the easy part. Also, the word that Versus is still a PS3 exclusive was pretty weird.

I'll be curious to see how the two ports come out - I prefer installs over disc switching.
