I hate Mr. Bean, the OP nailed it.

Comparing Spaceballs (a parody) and Borat (social commentary) to it is simply missing the point.

Bean = lowest common denominator.

I think you missed the point too.

Why can't people understand that there are different tastes of humor. Some people like low-brow humor and some like hi-brow humor.

Most americans who do not like Mr Bean just simply do not understand british humor / british culture.

I don't want to meet the person that would NOT laugh at the Christmas episode where he put a T-Rex in the manger and airlifted the baby Jesus with a helicopter (+ sound effects).

He's pretty damn funny when you're cruising at 30,000 feet and the alternative is some other foreign language shows that doesn't even have hot chicks.

Um thanks for proving my point I guess? That is exactly why I said it's missing the point to compare high-brow to low-brow comedy. I also did not say all low-brow comedy sucks, I called out Mr. Bean specifically.

Untrue, I really like Rowan Atkinson in other roles such as blackadder or the thin blue line.. I just *hate* his Mr. Bean character. He's so much better than that. I also really like british humor... just not Mr. Bean.

QFT. If your only exposure to Mr Bean is the movie, I can see why you'd dislike it.

The shows were extremely funny.

Dmmit I hate when I do that. I guess I misunderstood what you were trying to say.

Some of his skits are hilarious, but I found the show to be pretty meh in the end. Just not consistently funny enough to warrant watching. And this is coming from someone who appreciates a lot of british comedy.

His original show on HBO and his first stand-up theater performance were absolutely hilarious (especially the imaginary drum kit).

Anything after that however - I lost interest in.

He's retarded in a down syndrome sorta of way but I find him mildly amusing.

Wait, what does Mr Bean parody? :)

Mr Bean was alright, but The Black Adder was a way better role for Rowan Atkinson.
