I guess I'm oldschool, but I like my $35 RCA CD-MP3 player. :)
Reads MP3s off of CD-RWs, and is fairly easy to navigate.

The Sony Walkman MP3 players are pretty good, and i think they're only around $150 or so for a 1 GB model that holds about 800 songs (with the Sony software) and has a 50 hour battery life.

You could get a much larger player with a hard drive. My friend just got a 20 gig Iriver with video for about $50 more then I paid for my Sony, but there is no way on the face of the planet I would want to walk around with that in my pocket. If size dosn't matter to you though then you would want to look at hard drive players.
