Yes, but that is what the movie was about. The theme of the movie was the overglorification of violence by the media. It was a great of example of the total depravity of mankind. It (the film) was "aware" or the irony inherent in making a brutally violent movie criticizing the glorification of violence in the media.
It also showed that the media had not foisted the violence on the people, but that the people to some degree desired it. I don't totally agree with the point, but it's half valid. Personally, I think Hollywood creates trends as often as it chases them. MTV is a good case in point.
Natural Born Killers is a very interesting film. Maybe watch it again, but this time focus on the undercurrent provided by the avante garde camera work and the story behind the story vis a vis the media's coverage of the main story.
