Tropic Thunder was funny. How can you say his part was bad? All he did was yell and swear the entire time.
 
Went and seen it tonight. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a really good movie. Great story and apparently based on actual events. Good acting and there are some big name guys in it as well. Cruise did a did good job playing the part. Solid B+

Most good actors are nut jobs in real life. Jack Nicholson, Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, and so forth.

He's an entertaining actor, but I wouldn't call him a great actor. He basically plays every part the same.
 
It's an ok movie. In all honestly I was really bugged with the different accents all the german characters had. I was hoping I'd get a lot more nasty german voices rather than some poncy british and american accents.

Agreed, outside of Tropic Thunder every single one of his characters is the same. Cocky, gruff, know-it-all punk who at some point in the movie has something to soften his BS outer shell he puts on.
 
I'm guessing it will be a terrible movie. I like some of Cruise's early stuff, but lately it's been garbage. He jumped the shark a long time ago.

he's always sucked balls. terrible, terrible actor (not even considering his personal life in this)
 
Willing to see it. I know he is a wacko. But like said earlier, I try my best to separate his religion and his work. My only huge gripe is his barring of Katie Holmes to reprise her role in Dark Knight.
 
He's always been a decent actor. Had his highs and lows, but decent overall. The only reason he's as popular as he is is adolescent females.
 
MI:2 and War of the Worlds are like the only movies of his I didn't really like. Collateral, MI/:3, Last Samurai, Minority Report, A Few Good Men, Far and Away, Rain Man, Top Gun... all good movies IMHO... several others that are worth watching at least once like his older stuff.

Edit: And as much of a nutjob as he might be... he fucking stole the show in Tropic Thunder (well almost).
