Moveon.org does it again.

This is absolutely amazing. I realize they are appealing to the Democratic base, but obviously this shows exactly what they think of the people they are pitching too: complete utter idiots (well, yeah). Im open minded enough to respect Democratic think tanks, etc that actually have credibility, but moveon has now moved to National Inquirer status. UNFRIGGINBELIEVABLE!

MoveOn?s idiotic Thanksgiving ad: They still can?t figure out what American troops look like

Here?s the script: ?Some folks won?t be home this holiday season. 150,000 American men and women are stuck in Iraq. Their president misled America to send them in and has no plan to get them out. Democrats in Congress are leading the way home. Where are the Republicans? Tell your representative, ?Support our troops. Bring them home.??

To illustrate how our US troops are ?stuck in Iraq? (or should I spell that, ?stuck in Irak??), the MoveOn ad flashes this picture:

Does it look familiar? I recognized it immediately.

It?s the same freaking photo of British troops they used in an anti-war Thanksgiving ad two years ago. (FYI, I?ve captured the video in case they try to hide their abject stupidity.) As bloggers pointed out in 2005, MoveOn had actually photoshopped the original pic to hide the fact that one of the soldiers was wearing shorts.

Look at the camo. Those are British pattern fatigues, not American.

Flashback Nov. 30, 2005:

The liberal political group MoveOn.org has yanked a video ad from its website after being criticized for using images of British soldiers to represent Americans in Iraq.

The 30-second ad, which also began running on CNN and cable stations during the Thanksgiving weekend, stated that ?150,000 American men and women are stuck in Iraq? this holiday season.

But the ad showed soldiers who were ?not wearing U.S. uniforms,? according to a Pentagon spokesman who was interviewed by Cybercast News Service Wednesday, approximately two hours before the Internet version of the ad was pulled from the MoveOn.org website.

Two years later, MoveOn is still singing the same defeatist, anti-American tune, using the same bogus photos, to undermine our war efforts and line their pockets.

Question their patriotism?

I question their brain-wave activity.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

?

I care as much about what moveon does, says, prints as I do what freerepublic does, says, prints. I care even less what their web and ad designers do.

LOL, I like this smoke and mirrors line the best:

"stated that ?150,000 American men and women are stuck in Iraq? this holiday season.
But the ad showed soldiers who were ?not wearing U.S. uniforms"

So I guess that means they aren't stuck in Iraq this Thanksgiving then, right? They are all home now? So as usual, instead of attacking the message, attack the messenger. Not surprising.

Wait....you mean I can't believe everything I see?

But...but...I don't wanna think for myself!! Thinking is hard!!!!

OMG, they used the wrong picture! Clearly this is a valid argument against the point they are making.

I'm thinking some people are idiots, but I'm not thinking those people are MoveOn.org.

Sounds like your choking on something, can I interest you in a pair of zircon encrusted tweezers?:thumbsup:

Heh. So it's the wrong photo...

Which changes the truth of the situation, that Bush is holding 160K american troops hostage to neocon delusions of grandeur, in what way?

If the photos are the problem, then what happens when the ad comes back with the right photos? What criticism then, other than the usual "Defeatist!" & "Moonbat!" raving?

Anything of substance?

Probably not... If this is the best you've got, guys, then you're in much deeper trouble than you ever imagined. Chained to the oars of the SS Bush, the reaction to the rats coming up out of the bilges is... Denial... and distraction.

"Look! The enemy raised a signal flag upside-down! Ha-ha!"

Funny, I'd bet that 90% of the US population (excluding those with military background) would not be able to tell U.K. Camo patterns from U.S. Camo patterns.

Does that make it OK and right?

What possible difference does the photo make? Sure it's a dumb mistake, but it in no way changes the content of the ad or misrepresents anything. This attack on them is particularly pathetic, even for some of you guys.

Common mistake?

I'd like to see some examples of this "common" mistake from others, please.

Of people using incorrect photographs? Are you serious? I don't know... why don't you check every publication in the history of mankind since the introduction of the photograph?

Well given the history of MoveOn.org, I wouldn't be so sure it was a mistake.

So what was the intent of this deliberate Slightly Different Uniformed Troop Switch? What do they gain, or hope to gain from it? Will America be even more against troops of ours In Harm's Way when they see them wearing cammies that aren't quite as stylish?

This is nothing new dude. Democrats was caught last year with Canadian troops on their website. Yup, Yup, Yup.. them democrats and their band of racists, intolerant, loonies support the troops, just not ours.
Reading the excuses of the loonies in regard to this, here, is really funny

...

Call it an excuse, but who the fuck cares? Could someone, anyone, explain to me why I should care that Democrats who run the Democratic website or the folks at MoveOn.org used a picture of the "wrong" troops? You guys talk like the "problem" is obvious, but somehow I think that's because there isn't really a logical objection...so the best you can come up with is innuendo and dumb comments.

This isn't political debate, hell, it's not ANY kind of politics...it's just you guys giving us more proof, as if we needed it, that you all are really stupid.

Its not that they used an incorrect photo, its that they photoshoped pants on a guy wearing shorts and called them american troops. Its not like it that hard to find photos of american troops in iraq.

Didn't they pull this same shit the year before or two years ago with the same photo and ad? Or was the ad for something other than thanksgiving?

Did someone at Moveon actually photoshop the pants on the guy, or could it have been the photographer the bought the picture from? And were the people who made the add years ago the same people who made this recent add?

You would think, after the last debacle (eerily similar to this one), they'd have went with a different ad agency.

In the end, it really doesn't matter whether someone did a Photoshop or whether an erroneous photo was purchased by a third party for publication. MoveOn is ultimately responsible for the propa...er, content they are putting out.
