I bet it could run faster if it wasn't chasing something so close.. You can tell the Cheetah is actively following the 'bait.'

Maybe if they started with a goat or something 100 yards away and the Cheetah saw it at a distance..

I imagine they've been clocked in the wild by radar. One would think that a hunting cheetah has a bit more fire in its belly than a captive one chasing a stuffed mouse.

It's the same with antelope. People always say they can do 70, but I've chased them down roads with a pickup truck and have never seen them go faster than about 35.

Yeah, you gotta figure a cheetah in a zoo is way outta shape. A wild cheetah could probably run that in half the time.

Averaging 60mph over the 100m would only drop you to 3.75 seconds.
