Yea, I haven't either. I was combining the OPs story, with the later tale. As long as everybody stays out of everyone else's way, I'm cool with whatever. If someone gets in the way, especially if it's "just because they can", then the situation needs to change.

Were you wearing a headphone plugged into the horn of the car behind you, the cops couldn't hear a car horn that is directly behind you?

Yep.

Heh I saw one the other day while driving into work. I drive in early and cops typically aren't pulling people over at that point, but whenever I do see one, he's doing 80 in the passing lane while everyone gets out of the way. Well, one car didn't feel like moving over, so the cop highbeams the car in front of him until he moved over. wtf is up with that? Before anyone says anything, no, he was likely not on his was to respond to a call. This was on I-95, so it's not like he had to keep his lights off, and there was room for him to move on the right, something any cop would do when responding to a call. He was just sitting behind someone else highbeaming *shrug*

Hard saying not knowing. 😛

Perhaps he was reminding the person in the left lane that they're supposed to GTFO when the right lane is open?

after he honked, the cops probably thought he honked two times.

I personally would not have honked the horn, I would of maybe went to see them, but they were in the wrong for blocking the only exit. The guy behind you is an idiot for honking at you expecting that you can go somewhere. Pisses me off when people do that. I've actually had people honk at me at stop signs. If I see the next road is full I'm not going to advance 10 feet and block the whole intersection off just so they can advance 10 feet.

They do this a lot at my local gas station and minimart late at night. Even the mini mart owner hates those pricks, scaring off her customers. She also mentions that most of the time they'd come in and get a couple of donuts each and maybe a cup of coffee, and just chat until something comes on the police blotter.
What does she sell if all her customers are afraid of the cops?
Would you boldly step into a store where the entrance is blocked off by police cruisers regardless of what you'll be buying or have in your car?
If they're just parked next to each other in normal spaces, of course. You have to be uber paranoid or a shady bastard to be afraid of that.

If they're making a triangle across the entrance with their highbeams and strobes going, I'm pretty sure that store is not open for business right now.

I despise people who fill up the intersection and sit there while opposing traffic is supposed to be driving through..

The guy behind you is always an idiot. You should know that. ohh.. and the guy in front, to the left, and to the right.. oh and that guy that cut the guy off 2 cars ahead and didn't use his turning signal. And that women that changed lanes while making a left turn at an intersection almost hitting you while you where turning right into a 'keep moving' lane then honked her horn.. Lane changes while going through an intersection are illegal for this purpose.
Oh, and that 4-way stop right up the road from your house.. you know, the one where NOBODY understands how a 4-way stop works. You don't need your turning signal at these.. you can just go and let everybody assume that you are going straight.. so that when the car straight across from you that goes straight almost hits you while you turn right can get out and beat your stupid fucking piece of shit ass.

I think I've covered everything for today.

A while back I was heading home at night, maybe about midnight. I lived a few miles from town and at that time there was no cars on the road. For the last couple of miles home, I had this car right on my ass. I wasn't going fast or slow and I didn't know why he just didn't pass me (plenty of opportunities). There were a few turns and the tailgater followed me on every one.

I get close to my house, put on my blinker and slow down while getting into the left lane (it's opposite direction lane but a lot of people do that on these roads) to make the left turn into my driveway. As I'm doing that I put up the finger for the asshole tailgating me. Right then I notice it's a big ol' sheriff.

I guess he needs to run my plate or whatever but there was no need to continue to tailgate me the whole way. I've gotten tailgaters at night plenty and I almost never give them the finger so he was be pretty annoying.

Funny, our convenience stores like having cops around.

When my parents owned a couple of convenience stores, they gave all of the cops free coffee and fountain drinks. I liked having the cops there when I was working the midnight shift - not so much for safety, but because it's nice to have someone to talk to.

True, but you're also not supposed to tailgate and highbeam someone either 😛 Think if the cop were the third party, who would he likely pull over, the guy doing 70 in the 55 or the other one up his ass high beaming him?

He's lucky it wasn't me. My cars have a bad habit of dropping into lower gears when someone follows too close. No brake light, nothing, I'm just going slower. It's something I've meant to fix, but just haven't gotten to it yet.

I find it hard to believe this Best Buy center had ONE entrance and only ONE entrance.

IMO the OP was lazy and didn't drive to another entrance.

Not sure what's so hard to believe. The BB I used to work at had one gated entrance and one gated exit.

The one near me has 2 entrances, an exit that goes 1 way, and an exit that goes 2 ways. If you want to make a left, there's only 1 exit.

Then the right thing to do, which i have done when a cop is blocking an entrance/exit..
Get out of the car, walk up to the officers and state the following:
"Excuse me Officer, i apologize for interrupting, but i am running late and was wondering if you could point me to the location of another exit?"

At which point the officer will either tell you which way to exit, or tell you how to exit.

no need to sit there and honk at the cop.

They call that pacing.

No it's not. You don't need to drive like a retard to pace somebody. Try it sometime.

The cops that park at my place of work tend to do so respectfully and not in the way of people. These were pigs in the OP's story, not cops.

It's a tactic used to try and push drivers to speed more before they pull you over. I think some state covered it once, but memory is shady now that I have the swine flu...

the one near me has one tiny entrance. another is a bit out of the way, and you're stuck if you chose the first one.

back home, the other was in the back of a huge shopping mall. sure, there are other entrances, but you have to snake through the parking lot, around other stores, dodging mexicans and assorted wal-mart clientele.

VA state trooper did this BS to me about 10 years ago. what a douche--he ended up letting me go though, cause he got nothing on me! (hehe, the fool didn't check the trunk 😉)

I was going 75 as-is the norm for that highway, but when he pulled up behind me I locked it into 70 and hit the cruise control.
