What does that do exactly? I've tried messing with Drive strength, etc... Running a divider isn't as bad as I thought though, since I get to run tighter timings.

I have a New Image thanks to someone from [H :)
...now to convert it to a wallpaper.

something incorporating This Image would be a cool wallpaper too.

That's weird that CPU-z doesn't say the volts. I can check when I get home, but I think it's 1.52v. My motherboard doesn't read the correct temps with this bios. It says 38 degrees idle and 49-51 degrees load, and that's under water. I've learned that it's about 3-4 degrees higher than what it actually is so it's more like 45-48 degrees under full load. That's still HOT! running under water though. My Venice and X2 Manchester never got above 42 degrees (or 38-39 actual) running under the same setup! I'm not complaining though. :)

Thx :) I am 1.552 volts with 38C idle and 50C load with XP-90 (2800 rpm, 90mm fan) at 2.75 GHz. My MaxTCase is 57C. She won't fly high with less voltage and i don't want to run the temp above 50C load. It will run 2.5 GHz stable at 1.376v but needs the big jump to go higher, like there is a big dead spot in the middle. I am plenty happy with a 750 MHz OC, this cpu runs much better than my CBBID Winnie.....

OK, so I'm late in the game getting into this whole Opteron thing, but I am desperately searching out an Opteron 144 s939, preferably the CABNE but I'll take a CABYE too. I'm looking for 2 to 4 of them. I s'pose I'd take a 146, but I could take 1 or 2.

Should I preorder on a site like Monarch, and not know what core I'm getting, or is there a place that currently has some in stock right now that someone knows of? Or will someone sell me theirs for a comparable price to what I'd pay at one of those retail outlets?

I have been on the lookout for one for a couple of weeks now. I don't want to pre-order because I don't want to have to wait if other vendors get them in stock. They are impossible to find right now though. Prices are supposedly dropping on 10/31, so you might want to wait until then before ordering.

Yeah, I can't find anything anywhere, at all. I work for a computer outlet store, and none of our vendors carry anything either. I'm still madly searching though, and actually have calls out to AMD reps worldwide. There's a guy on another forum I've seen selling some of the procs, so I'm gonna see what he's got, but let me know if you find anything man.

And yes, AMD confirms that there will be a price on 10/31 -- my fear is that there will a change in the core as well though.

Yeah, I think there is a chance that they will reduce the overclockability of these things in some way, by moving production to different fabs or something. There are still some 148's knocking around, but for $300 I'd rather get an X2 3800+.

I hear that some people are now getting the CABGE cores.

As for my 146, it seems to top out somewhere between 2.9 and 3.0ghz. 2.9 at 1.53v is solid and has no problems with anything I throw at it. 3.0ghz needs LOTS of volts (1.6 or so) to boot into Windows and doesn't pass any stability tests. I would rather not put that kind of voltage into my processor, so I think I'll stick with 2.9ghz for now. :)

Though pleased with my X2, when I saw some of the overclocking results on these 939 Opterons I couldn't resist..

Got a 148 from Monarch and went right to 2850 at default 1.4 .. Priming as we speak..
Can you say " FX57 " at 1/3 the price ? :D

I'll see what happens overnight..

I haven't been this excited since I was running dual 500 Celrys at 850 on a BP6..

No time soon.. It will go into my 2nd rig that is running 754 right now...

I'm running a distributed computing project that the X2 really shines on...

Diogenes2

Did you get a retail or Oem processor?

I have a X2 4400 in my DFI rig and I really like the multi tasking you can do with it.

DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D,
A64 X2 4400 Toledo @ 2420MHz
MSI X800pro, Silent Boost Lapped
Maxtor 6Y120MO and 6Y160MO SATA HDs
Corsair 2x512-XMS-4000PRO v3.1
Vantec 520 Stealth PSU

Man, this Opteron hype came out of nothing, at least for me. Does AMD want to make ppl switch to server Cpu´s from now on? I dont understand the whole thing. Where are the strenghts regarding performance and where are the weak areas of these so called San Diego like Opterons. Pls someone explain AMD´s strategy behind all this...server processors for gamers and oc lovers. very strange.

AMD wanted to get the Opterons off the ECC memory requirement of the 940 in order to gain more of the low end server market on a 939 platform which doesn't require registered memory.

The 939 Opteron is an E4 core just like the San Diego, but the Opty is supposedly selected from the best silicon (binned) because of the 24/7 server requirement.

The Opty is not hype, there are reports of OC up to 1500 MHz from stock (2.0 GHz to 3.50 GHz), the majority are hitting at least 2.8 GHz.

The CABNE and CABYE steps are the best with CABGE right behind. Even later steps may prove to be dogs and then the hype will be hype, however, the first batches are nothing short of stellar. When you can turn a $150 chip easily into 3.0 GHz monster with a 1MB cache, that is major bang for buck.

I have no money, and everytime you post, my finger is closer to pulling the trigger :p

Seriously...this sounds like an opportunity too good to miss, much like the mobile athlons were a while back. I'm going to find some hardware laying around to sell, and eventually my own Venice 3000+ E3 that I've got, to cover the costs of an Opt 144. I think I'll pre-order one at Tankguys. Forum presence =

*Edit*

Mucker, am I going crazy or does it say that I quoted you at 1:45am and you posted at 1:47AM?
