I used to tease my daughter, and tell her I was gonna make mouse fritters for dinner using the fall mice that inevitably get in the house. One time she was especially tired, sensitive , or something, and she started crying, saying "I don't want mouse critters[sic]!" Kids are great entertainment :^D

Anything that's based on eggplant is by definition disgusting. Pastitsio is okay, but baklava and souvlaki with tzatziki are the best Greek foods.

I don't agree with you all that often, but yeah, a lot of vegetables have to go extinct and disappear from the earth before eggplant climbs to page 1 of my edible plant matter list.

I can stand it in eggplant parm, but that's only because its drowned in cheese and sauce. Actually it would be just as good if you left the sliced purple alien pod stuff out.

baklava, especially smothered in cloves, is simply terrible. finikia are by miles the best glykia, followed by loukemathes. even kourabethes (contender for the most dangerous and messy cookie ever) and koulorakia are better than baklava.

Oh, the spices in this make the dish. It is simply delicious. If you haven't had it I highly recommend it. Trouble is finding a place that actually serves it.

FTFY

The combination of sauce and melted cheese is so good on its own eggplant is one of the few things to put in it that ruins it. Smear sauce and cheese on plain dough and it's pizza, nature's perfect food. Put it on eggplant and it's inedible.

Can't you put the spices and sauce on something other than a slimey kitchen sponge? Like eggplant parmagiana, mousakka could only be improved by taking the eggplant out of it.

Get after those little bastards, for some reason or other they love insulation and will leave you with exposed wiring in your walls.

If they do it right they bread and fry the eggplant, so I guess you could just look at it as disgusting mushy stuff holding up the yummy fried filling... nope, doesn't work for me, either.

Dont know what you people are talking about. Eggplant is one of the best veggies and one of my favorites. I grew 12 eggplant plants in my garden this year. Eggplant parm is great. So is eggplant rollatine. We make an eggplant dip called caponata (Italian). There are some eggplant stirfries served at a local chinese restaurant I want to try and replicate (now that I have a wok). Or, one of my favorite ways to prepare it is to take a few eggplants and put them over a charcoal fire. Roast until the skin is black and peels off easily. The interior will be soft; mash it with a fork in a bowl. Add diced onions, lemon juice, salt and pepper (tahini optional) and you have delicious baba ganoush.

I bet you like zuchini and squash, too.
