Mouse Cursor Appears In-Game

This problem has come up this past week and it has begun to bug me A LOT.

I play a ton of FPS games and overtime, in a little under a minute, a mouse cursor would appear in the middle of my screen right on top of my crosshair in-game. When I move my mouse around, I see the mouse cursor jitter in the direction I move it and it's constantly pulled to the middle of the screen. I'm guessing this is how FPS games detect the speed and acceleration of the mouse in order to move the crosshair.

When I minimize my game and restore it, the problem is gone until the next approximate 30 seconds when it arises again.

Apparently, even outside of the game on my Windows Desktop, the mouse would tend to not respond every now and then for at most half a second before it becomes active again. I get the inactiveness in game prior to seeing my mouse cursor appear.

But anyhow, I'm using an MX510 and I'm tried uninstalling my Mouseware to no avail. I've turned off my Anti-Virus and any unnecessary processes through Task Manager and that also doesn't seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What other processes are being run in the background? Usually the cursor appearing means that something else has taken attention away from the game (as you thought). Have you tried an anti-virus/malware scan? It could be that a system process/seemingly innocuous process has been co-opted. Also, I would suggest video driver and DirectX updates if you haven't already.

Windows 2000 Professional.

I haven't seem this problem before when I used XP, but changing back to 2000 Professional suddenly brought this up. I installed 2000 2 weeks ago and everything was fully operational until a week later. I'm not sure what changed in my system but my game ran fine without a hitch under 2000, then suddenly this problem comes along...

The Q3E Minimizer is a tool to minimize Quake3 Engine games. I've used it all the time and never had a problem with it.

I tried turning it off to see if the problem would go away but it didn't seem to be the culprit. The problem kept occuring.

I played F.E.A.R. Combat a couple days ago and I had the same problem with the mouse cursor showing. But instead, without minimizing, all I did was hit the Escape button and the menu shows all the weapons you can use (Penatrator/Assault Rifle/ Dual Pistols etc.) and going back in-game, it was gone. I didn't minimize it at all.

I also played Jedi Outcast and I had the exact same problem with Enemy Territory (my main game)

It's never a good thing to see a process show up twice unless it's svchost. Check your nHancer.exe. But yeah, I would close all of the extraneous processes before you start a game because it looks like you've got quite a few. It'd be difficult to diagnose based on a list that huge.

I had a problem like this with HL2 (which was bugging the t*ts off me) and I'm not exactly sure how it was that I resolved the problem.

I suspect it was a combination of graphics card update and turning off "mouse trails" in the control panel.

I used to get it in Half-Life 1 based games if I tried to tab out and then back in again... nothing really sorted it out except Steam...
